Background / History
Tang Hao is introduced outside Yu Xiaogang's room after Tang San accepts Yu Xiaogang as his teacher. He had been protecting Tang San from the shadows and approved of Yu Xiaogang as a temporary instructor despite considering him a “two-ringed failure,” because Tang San was not yet ready to be pulled into conflict with Spirit Hall 8.
After sensing an unusual presence at Notting Academy's back mountain, Tang Hao leaves Tang San and discovers Xiao Wu, recognizing her as a hundred-thousand-year soul beast in human form. He immediately sees her as a priceless resource for a soul ring, soul bone, or forced sacrifice, and prepares to seize her 8.
Du Busi intercepts him before he can act. Tang Hao is forced into battle, revealing the Clear Sky Hammer and nine soul rings, but is outclassed by Du Busi’s superior soul power, soul rings, soul bones, and golden-awakened Body Martial Soul 8 9.
During the battle, Tang Hao uses the Clear Sky Hammer, Clear Sky True Body, and Nine Rings Explode to resist Du Busi’s attacks. Although he briefly suppresses Du Busi through ring detonation, Du Busi’s poison destroys his right arm, strips out his inherited right-arm soul bone, and damages his meridians. Tang Hao escapes without retrieving the soul bone 9.
Du Busi later states that Tang Hao’s cultivation was damaged so badly that he likely cannot make further breakthroughs for the rest of his life 10. Tang Hao subsequently remains in a cave near Holy Soul Village, where he is seen contemplating a blue-gold right-leg soul bone 15.
Tang Hao's defeat becomes widely known among high-ranking soul masters. Ning Fengzhi and Gu Rong regard reports of his severe injuries as credible, while Du Busi later assesses Tang Hao as stronger than Chen Xin in overall strength, despite judging Chen Xin superior in attack alone 17 56.
Appearance
Tang Hao appears as a tall, weathered man in a simple gray robe, with messy black hair draped over his shoulders. Though close to fifty years old, his eyes are described as aged and dim like a flickering candle 8.
- Tall figure
- Simple gray robe
- Messy black shoulder-length hair
- Weathered face
- Aged, weary eyes
Personality
Tang Hao acts cautiously where Tang San is concerned, watching from the shadows and choosing not to involve him too early in conflict with Spirit Hall. His approval of Yu Xiaogang is practical rather than respectful: he values Yu Xiaogang’s theories but dismisses his personal strength 8.
His encounter with Xiao Wu reveals greed and ruthlessness. Upon identifying her as a hundred-thousand-year soul beast, he immediately considers the benefits of killing, extracting, capturing, or forcing a sacrifice from her 8.
In battle, Tang Hao is resilient and decisive. Even while heavily outmatched, he uses his strongest methods, endures severe injuries, and chooses retreat the moment victory becomes impossible 9.
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang Hao’s martial soul is the Clear Sky Hammer, manifested as a massive iron hammer covered in hideous patterns. When released, it is accompanied by nine soul rings: two yellow, two purple, four black, and one red 9.
- Used defensively to block Du Busi’s corrosive punch 9
- Enlarged through Clear Sky True Body into a hundred-meter giant hammer 9
- Further empowered during Nine Rings Explode, reaching two hundred meters in length 9
Title Douluo Cultivation
Tang Hao is a nine-ring Title Douluo, but his soul power and soul ring quality are explicitly inferior to Du Busi’s during their clash 9.
- Soul ring configuration: two yellow, two purple, four black, one red 9
- His pressure and combat strength are high enough to threaten Xiao Wu before Du Busi intervenes 8
- Du Busi still considers him a “mere Title Douluo” in comparison to himself 9
- Du Busi later judges Tang Hao's overall strength to exceed Chen Xin's, though Chen Xin surpasses him in attack alone 56
Clear Sky True Body
Tang Hao activates his seventh soul skill, Clear Sky True Body, to withstand Du Busi’s Hell Poison Dragon Drill 9.
- Enlarges the Clear Sky Hammer into a hundred-meter giant hammer 9
- Can contest powerful poison-based soul skills briefly 9
- Fails to fully withstand Du Busi’s corrosive force, causing Tang Hao to spit blood 9
Nine Rings Explode
Tang Hao detonates all nine soul rings at once to empower the Clear Sky Hammer against Du Busi’s ninth soul skill, Yellow Spring Green Star Fall 9.
- Shatters all nine soul rings into energy to reinforce the hammer 9
- Produces enough force to suppress Du Busi for a brief instant 9
- Enables Tang Hao’s escape despite overwhelming disadvantage 9
- Causes heavy strain, with Tang Hao bleeding continuously during use 9
Combat Instinct and Escape
Tang Hao reacts immediately when Du Busi appears, retreating without hesitation because he had failed to sense Du Busi’s presence 8.
- Recognizes when an opponent is beyond him 8 9
- Uses ring detonation to create a narrow escape window 9
- Abandons even a precious inherited soul bone when retrieval would risk death 9
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Clear Sky Hammer — Tang Hao’s martial soul and primary weapon 9.
- Right-arm soul bone — A dull golden inherited soul bone of the Clear Sky Sect, forcibly stripped from his severed right arm by Du Busi’s poison and later given to Lu Xiao 9 10.

- Du Busi — Enemy; Du Busi blocks Tang Hao from harming Xiao Wu, defeats him, strips his right-arm soul bone, and cripples his future cultivation prospects 8 9 10.
- Tang Chen — Grandfather; Tang Hao compares Du Busi’s terrifying pressure to the only similar pressure he had felt before, from Tang Chen 9.
- Chen Xin — Fellow Title Douluo; Du Busi considers Tang Hao stronger overall, while recognizing Chen Xin as superior in pure attack 56.
