Background
The Body Sect regards the Body Martial Soul as the most primordial divine power of humanity. Rather than borrowing power from external beings or objects, its doctrine treats the body itself as the martial soul and its flesh as a universe to be cultivated 3.
Du Busi arrived after Lu Xiao awakened a Body Martial Soul at Notting Academy, intervening when Yu Xiaogang dismissed it as worthless. He declared that Lu Xiao was therefore a disciple of the Body Sect, then accepted him as his only closing disciple and promised his protection 1 2.
Although Du Busi is its current Sect Master, the sect is severely diminished. He identifies Lu Xiao as its last hope, prioritizing his physical foundation over rapid soul-power advancement and seeking support from major factions for the sect’s restoration 23 30.
The sect’s records preserve accounts of exceptional Body Martial Souls. One former Sect Master possessed the same charm-inducing constitution later exhibited by Lu Xiao, while the first Sect Master reportedly possessed the stepwise-evolving “Imperishable Body” 10 62.
Doctrine & Methods
Establish the Body Before Cultivating the Soul
The Body Sect’s central principle is to strengthen the body before pursuing greater soul power. Du Busi deliberately suppressed Lu Xiao’s breakthrough for two months to perfect his foundation, believing this would improve his future soul-ring capacity, combat ability, and explosive strength 23.
| Principle or Method | Function | Documented Result |
|---|---|---|
| Body Martial Soul cultivation | Uses the practitioner’s flesh, bones, and meridians as the basis of cultivation rather than relying solely on conventional soul-power circulation 3 | Lu Xiao’s meridians were cleared and widened so that natural energy could circulate and refine within him more efficiently 3 |
| Innate Secret Technique | The sect’s foundational body-tempering art, also called “God Creation”; it uses worldly power to penetrate, cleanse, and reshape the body 5 6 | Its first stage, Body Piercing, clears the body’s meridians through medicinal power, soul power, and external force 6 29 |
| Medicinal body forging | Uses rare tonics, soul-beast materials, and cauldrons to temper flesh, meridians, and bones 6 29 50 | Lu Xiao completed Body Piercing after a bear-tiger medicinal bath, gaining physical strength sufficient to contend with a Soul Ancestor without soul skills 29 |
| Reforging | The third stage of the Innate Secret Technique, involving the reshaping of internal organs 49 | The process is considered highly dangerous; the Nine Heart Begonia’s healing ability could reduce its risk 49 |
Golden Body Arhat
The Innate Secret Technique’s ultimate stated goal is the Golden Body Arhat, described by the sect as a near-divine physique. Its claimed benefits include immunity to negative status effects, poison resistance, and resistance to energy-based control abilities 5.
- Requires a foundation built from childhood under the sect’s methods. 5
- Requires the practitioner to remain a virgin; violating this condition wastes prior cultivation effort. 5 47
- Is considered extremely difficult to survive and is taught only to disciples personally cultivated by the Sect Master. 5
Combat Doctrine
The Body Sect does not rely exclusively on soul skills. Its teachings emphasize physical combat techniques and withholding soul skills until decisive moments, preventing opponents from learning a fighter’s capabilities too early 16 32.
- Develops self-created combat techniques to supplement soul rings. 32
- Teaches practitioners to combine hardness and softness in offense and defense rather than depend on brute force. 16
- Supports unusually high soul-ring absorption through exceptional physical conditioning, though the relevant method is treated as a closely guarded sect secret. 31
Known Members and Associates
