Blue Silver Grass is widely regarded as one of the continent’s most useless martial souls. Tang San is judged for awakening it, yet treats reaching rank 29 through training and Yu Xiaogang’s guidance as proof of his talent. Yu Xiaogang later seeks to use Tang San’s cultivation to prove that Blue Silver Grass can become powerful and that no martial soul is inherently useless 7 9 83 176.

At the Suo Tuo Grand Spirit Arena, Tang San faces Tang Wulin in a battle between two Blue Silver Grass users. Tang San’s poisonous Blue Silver Entanglement is broken immediately by Tang Wulin’s stronger vines, while Tang Wulin’s Blue Silver Grass blocks Tang San’s hidden Sleeve Arrow and binds him for a decisive defeat 26 37.

Tang San subsequently develops his martial soul toward poison-based battlefield control by absorbing the Millennium Miasma Poison Mushroom Vine. The resulting third skill, Blue Silver Poison Miasma, can spread over a large area, but it is difficult to control and may harm allies as well 76 83 120.

Yu Xiaogang’s ambition to cultivate a Blue Silver Grass user into a Titled Douluo also shapes his requests for resources from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. He conceals Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer when making his appeal, reasoning that cultivating Blue Silver Grass requires greater investment. Yu Yuanzhen remains deeply skeptical that such a martial soul can reach that level 95 176.

During Shrek Academy’s freshman tournament, Tang Wulin’s martial soul is publicly identified as the Blue Silver Emperor, an evolved Blue Silver Grass manifestation. Tang Yuehua states that only one Blue Silver Emperor can exist on the continent at a time, and that a new one ordinarily emerges only after the former emperor dies. Because Tang Wulin has already awakened it, Tang San’s dormant Blue Silver Emperor bloodline is unable to awaken 222 223 234 251.

The stated requirements for ordinary Blue Silver Grass to become a Blue Silver Emperor are possession of Blue Silver Emperor bloodline or attainment of hundred-thousand-year soul-beast cultivation, together with the vacancy left by the previous emperor’s death. Tang San inherits the relevant bloodline from Ah Yin, but this does not override the restriction imposed by an existing emperor 223 251.

While searching Sunset Forest for the Blue Silver King, Tang San uses his Blue Silver Grass to sense the surrounding plant life. The grass relays that he has come too late: a new Blue Silver Emperor has already been born. The associated voice cannot evolve Tang San’s martial soul, but tells him to return upon reaching rank 40 within one year for another opportunity 250 251.

During this expedition, Tang San accidentally poisons Yu Xiaogang while driving away soul beasts with Blue Silver Poison Miasma. He subsequently finds the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well and uses ordinary detoxifying herbs to improve his teacher’s condition, rather than resolving the poisoning through a new Blue Silver Grass skill 250 251 252.

Tang San continues cultivating Blue Silver Grass as his functional primary martial soul after his Clear Sky Hammer’s three rings are reduced to ten-year quality. At rank 34, he presents Blue Silver Grass’s two yellow and one purple ring configuration to the Clear Sky Sect, while pursuing resources—including the Mystic Water Pill—to reach rank 40 before the Blue Silver King’s deadline 273 284 285 294.

Despite this reliance, Tang San increasingly favors the Clear Sky Hammer.
