Background / History

Tang Hao raised Tang San alone after the boy lost his mother. He later admits that he drank, lived in despair, fled from responsibility, and failed to properly oversee Tang San's Martial Soul awakening; Tang San's early growth instead came through his own effort and Yu Xiaogang's guidance. His guilt made him fiercely protective of his son. 14

Despite his drinking and neglect in other areas, Tang Hao seriously instructed Tang San in forging during childhood, teaching him the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. Tang San practiced its force, angles, and rhythm extensively. Tang Hao initially opposed Tang San becoming a Soul Master when he knew only of the boy's Blue Silver Grass, even with Innate Full Soul Power; he relented after learning that Tang San also possessed the Clear Sky Hammer. 128 186

Tang Hao's earlier confrontation with Spirit Hall established his reputation beyond the Clear Sky Sect. Having only just entered the Titled Douluo realm, he severely wounded several Titled Douluo-level opponents and escaped their encirclement. His hammer strike severely injured Qian Xunji, though Qian Xunji was subsequently killed by Bibi Dong within Spirit Hall rather than by Tang Hao himself. 14 224 285

After Tang San was rejected by Shrek Academy, Tang Hao broke into the academy at night to demand justice. He intended to punish those responsible and confronted Dean Lin Feng with the Clear Sky Hammer, but Lin Feng crushed him into the ground with an unseen force and fitted him with Soul Sealing Shackles. 14 135

Shrek Academy subsequently used him as a combat opponent in the Spirit Ascension Platform. Although restricted to three rings, Tang Hao retained a powerful physique relative to his suppressed Soul Power and fought Tang Wulin's group with the Clear Sky Hammer. The repeated forced battles left him fearful of Lin Feng and increasingly exhausted. 46 48 49

During Chen Xin's visit to Virtual Space, Tang Hao recognized him and tearfully begged for rescue. Chen Xin refused to intervene, regarding Tang Hao as responsible for his own predicament. Tang Hao responded by threatening to destroy the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect if he escaped, but Chen Xin left him behind. Chen Xin later informed Ning Fengzhi and Gu Rong that the missing Clear Sky Douluo was detained by Shrek Academy. 100 121

Tang San eventually encountered Tang Hao in the Confinement Room. Tang Hao explained that he had been captured on the day of Tang San's rejection, having come to avenge the humiliation he believed his son had suffered. 128 135

While imprisoned, he fought beside Tang San against Tang Wulin and attempted to pass on the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer technique. Both father and son were defeated, and Tang San retained no memory of the lesson afterward. 136

Tang Hao and Tang San were later summoned again after less than four hours of rest. Under Silver White Bracelets that sealed their Martial Souls and Soul Power, Tang Hao was forced to continue Shrek Academy's training using only his physical abilities. 138

Later, Tang Hao learned that Tang San had acquired three white ten-year soul rings for his Clear Sky Hammer during an illusory experience. Viewing the hammer as his son's essential path to strength, Tang Hao struck Tang San for the first time and condemned the decision as the ruin of his Martial Soul. 185 186

Yu Xiaogang later disclosed that Tang Hao belonged to the Clear Sky Sect, one of the Upper Three Sects, and contacted Tang Hao's younger sister, Tang Yuehua, for aid. Tang Yuehua traveled to Shrek Academy, informed Clear Sky Sect Master Tang Xiao, and began seeking a way to secure Tang Hao's release through negotiation rather than force. 219 220 222 234

Shrek Academy later set terms for his release: the Clear Sky Sect would have to provide seven Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Bones, or Tang Xiao would have to defeat Wu Zhangkong in a duel and accept imprisonment beside Tang Hao if he lost. Tang Xiao ultimately declined the duel after Tang San warned him that Wu Zhangkong's Battle Armor could grant combat power comparable to a Titled Douluo. 271

During a subsequent special-training exercise, Tang Hao was repeatedly used as a virtual punching bag despite being allowed nine Soul Rings. Ning Tian's Holy Light Spirit Deer pierced his chest with a spear of light, and Huo Yuhao later used a spiritual attack to destroy his virtual body. 257 258

His confinement continued long afterward. Shrek repeatedly summoned him into Virtual Space as a seven-ring opponent, where students who had studied his fighting patterns easily defeated him. He survived on meager food and less than four hours of sleep, sharing the Confinement Room with Liu Erlong and promising to notify Yu Xiaogang of her imprisonment if he found a way out. 291

Cai Yue'er eventually released Tang Hao only temporarily so that he could strengthen himself and again become useful as a sparring target. Shrek fitted him with a tracking collar that monitored his movements, forced his return after six months, and would explode his heart if he tried to remove it; a separate monitoring soul tool also shocked him whenever he slept beyond four hours. 291 292

While traveling toward the Clear Sky Sect, Tang Hao returned to the cave where Ah Yin's seed was planted. He apologized to Ah Yin and Tang San for leaving them behind and promised to return once he had resolved his situation. Believing Shrek Academy's influence across the Heaven Dou Empire, Star Luo Empire, and Spirit City made escape impossible, he resolved to seek his sect's protection and return the Soul Bones he had taken if necessary. 292

Tang Hao arrived at the Clear Sky Sect as a penitent sinner, kneeling outside its gate and seeking Tang Xiao's protection. The sect's disciples and elders instead received him with hostility, blaming him for the sect's seclusion, the deaths of disciples, and the loss of the affiliated clans. 295

His arrival also endangered Tang San's concealed identity within the sect. Tang Xiao had admitted Tang San as his own illegitimate son and claimed that Tang Hao and Ah Yin's child had died during Spirit Hall's pursuit. Unaware of this arrangement, Tang Hao openly identified Tang San as his son, prompting the elders to question Tang Xiao's account. Tang Xiao privately explained the deception, but Tang Hao's subsequent loss of composure further undermined it. 284 296

Tang Hao pleaded with Tang Xiao to save him before his six-month release expired. Tang Xiao replied that the ransom was beyond the sect's means, while the Seventh Elder refused to allow the sect's resources to be used on Tang Hao and demanded that Tang San leave as well if he was truly Tang Hao's son. 296

When the Seventh Elder and other elders attempted to expel or attack him, Tang Hao's resentment and pride resurfaced. He fought several elders and drove them back, despite initially claiming that he had returned to admit his mistakes. 297

Tang Wulin and A Ruheng subsequently arrived to punish Tang Hao for insulting Shrek Academy. Tang Wulin caught Tang Hao's Clear Sky Hammer with his Golden Dragon Claw and defeated him with a single punch, leaving him with broken ribs. A Ruheng then slapped him and challenged his willingness to continue speaking against Shrek. Tang Hao also learned that his collar allowed the academy to monitor what he saw and said, not merely his location. 298 299

After A Ruheng demonstrated that even Tang Chen's Great Sumeru Hammer could not damage his Immaculate Golden Body, the Clear Sky Sect chose self-preservation over family loyalty. Tang Chen ordered the sect to abandon Tang Hao, and Tang San publicly denied being his son in order to remain in the sect. Tang Hao heard Tang San's repudiation, vomited blood, and lost consciousness. 300

Tang San subsequently returned to Monster Academy with the still-comatose Tang Hao. He blamed Tang Hao for exposing his parentage and destroying his access to the Clear Sky Sect's resources and guidance, briefly considering killing his defenseless father. He restrained himself because he still needed Tang Hao's protection. Tang Hao had not awakened when Yu Xiaogang visited, and both Tang San and Yu Xiaogang resented the loss of their Clear Sky Sect opportunity. 306

Personality

Tang Hao is fiercely protective of Tang San. His decision to attack Shrek Academy stemmed from guilt over his failures as a father and his refusal to let others humiliate his son. 14 135

He is proud, aggressive, and accustomed to solving conflict through overwhelming force. Even when reduced to three rings, he considers Shrek Academy's students beneath him and responds to their coordinated attacks with open contempt. 47 48

His confinement erodes his composure. He becomes fearful of Lin Feng's methods, desperate enough to beg Chen Xin for rescue, and increasingly furious at being treated as an unpaid sparring target. 49 100

His desperation does not eliminate his vindictiveness. When Chen Xin refuses to rescue him, Tang Hao threatens the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect; when temporarily restored to nine-ring strength in Virtual Space, he immediately hopes to vent his anger by killing the students confronting him. 100 257

Tang Hao's concern for Tang San can become harsh and destructive. When Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer is damaged by three white soul rings, Tang Hao responds with rage, physical violence, and accusations that Tang San is unfit to be a Soul Master. 185 186
