Background / History

Xie Xie is a Shrek Academy student trained by Wu Zhangkong alongside Tang Wulin. Wu Zhangkong takes the pair to the Suo Tuo Grand Spirit Arena for practical-combat training and assigns them a required winning streak, with extra training as the penalty for failure 24.

He is identified as a rich young master from East Sea City and is notably familiar with modern soul-master concepts such as Soul Spirits, virtual-space recovery functions, and data-created soul beasts 44 82.

He initially enters the academy’s roster as the system reward Special Student—Xie Xie (Initial Entry into Shrek Academy Version), obtained after Xiao Wu’s recognition of Shrek Academy increases 16. When Tang San later asks whether he comes from another world, Xie Xie confirms this but rejects the assumption that he is a reincarnated person 139.

During a virtual battle, Dai Yun'er's mental attacks leave him unable to contribute effectively. Xie Xie later acknowledges that he must improve in order to keep pace with Tang Wulin, including training both of his dagger martial souls 33 35.

During the Spirit Ascension Platform expedition, he joins Tang Wulin, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing in raising their soul-ring ages. When the students face a Tang Hao whose soul power has been suppressed to three rings, Xie Xie coordinates with Tang Wulin to restrain, wound, and harass him rather than meet his hammer attacks directly 44 46 48.

By the Shrek Academy Freshman Tournament, Xie Xie has advanced to Level 48 and can wield the Light Dragon Dagger and Shadow Dragon Dagger together in battle 218.

Following the tournament, Wu Zhangkong criticizes Xie Xie for celebrating Tang Wulin's championship without reflecting on his own loss to Tang Wulin. Xie Xie is visibly deflated by the reprimand and becomes unusually quiet while awaiting the academy's personal-master assignments 255.

After the students confirm their assigned teachers, Xie Xie enthusiastically declares himself ready for any training and resumes teasing Wu Zhangkong about being reluctant to part with the class 256. He subsequently meets his grown-up counterpart, who calls himself the Spacetime God. Xie Xie interprets the counterpart’s apparently five-year age difference as evidence that he will become a god within five years, and is delighted by the prospect 257.

By the later Virtual Space challenges, Xie Xie can use an Eighth Soul Skill. After watching Tang Wulin complete his Four-Word Battle Armor, he encourages him to test his strength but hastily refuses when Tang Wulin proposes using him as a sparring partner. Wu Zhangkong instead directs the group to battles against data-based students from other Shrek Academy branches, fought at the same soul-power level for exchangeable points 346 347.

Xie Xie chooses virtual Jixiang expecting a quick victory, only to discover that the opponent’s Life and Death Silver Needle Domain is much stronger than he anticipated. After suffering serious wounds, he uses his Martial Soul Avatar and Eighth Soul Skill to destroy the virtual opponent. He receives his points, warns the others that the opponents have been substantially strengthened, and restores himself through the Virtual Space’s recovery function 347 348.

Personality

Xie Xie is playful, confident, and fond of teasing others. He casually challenges opponents to surrender, jokes about Tang Wulin becoming his “little brother,” and needles Tang San at every opportunity 33 159 184.

His confidence is tempered by self-awareness. After being repeatedly shut down by Dai Yun'er's spiritual abilities, he recognizes his own shortcomings rather than denying them 33 35. He is also difficult to manipulate: when Tang San attempts to exploit their shared knowledge of Tang Sect techniques, Xie Xie sees through the attempt and incapacitates him instead 139.

Xie Xie can still be overconfident against seemingly less threatening opponents. He dismisses Xu Xiaoyan's chances based on her control-system role and lower Soul Power, only for her to exploit his continued weakness in spiritual power and defeat him 218.

Although he is sincerely pleased by Tang Wulin's successes, he initially treats his own defeat by Tang Wulin as inevitable rather than considering how to surpass him. Wu Zhangkong calls out this complacency, which leaves Xie Xie embarrassed and subdued 255.

He also enjoys ridiculing unreasonable demands. When Yu Xiaogang attempts to impose multiple conditions on Tang Wulin under the guise of a single request, Xie Xie openly mocks the contradiction 232.

Beneath his teasing manner, Xie Xie is sensitive to cruelty toward the bereaved. He angrily confronts Tang Ya after she celebrates learning that Huo Yuhao has no surviving family, with the narration connecting his reaction to thoughts of his own mother. After Tang Ya and Beibei leave, he promises Huo Yuhao that the group will find him a more suitable opportunity to compensate for disrupting his possible recruitment into the Tang Sect 160 162.

He enjoys showing off and is thrilled by his future counterpart’s claimed divine status. Watching that counterpart impress everyone with his aura makes the younger Xie Xie envious and eager to possess the same strength immediately 257 258.

His desire for quick rewards can lead him to underestimate familiar opponents. He selects virtual Jixiang because he expects an easy source of points, but refuses to concede once the enhanced opponent overwhelms him, escalating to his strongest documented techniques to secure victory 347.

Light and Shadow Dragon Assault

Xie Xie’s Fifth Soul Skill, Light and Shadow Dragon Assault, transforms his movement into a streak of light as he crosses his daggers. A gold dragon phantom and a black dragon phantom emerge from the weapons and attack the target from opposite sides 347.

Xie Xie’s Seventh Soul Skill, Light and Shadow Dragon Blade Avatar, is his Martial Soul Avatar. He fuses with his twin daggers and manifests a two-headed giant dragon, dozens of meters tall, bearing the powers of light and darkness 347.

• Its attacks finally create cracks in virtual Jixiang’s Life and Death Silver Needle Domain after Xie Xie’s earlier techniques fail to overcome it 347.

Twin Dragon Prison Slash

Xie Xie’s Eighth Soul Skill, Twin Dragon Prison Slash, turns him into a brilliant streak of light for a penetrating dagger strike 347.

• Used after his Martial Soul Avatar damages virtual Jixiang’s domain 347.
• Pierces through the weakened domain and drives both daggers into the virtual opponent’s chest, securing victory 347.

Martial Soul Resonance Test

Xie Xie tests for possible Martial Soul Fusion compatibility after drinking Spirit Resonance Water. He hopes to discover a fusion skill with Tang Wulin, but neither senses the necessary resonance, and Xie Xie finds no compatible partner among those present 84.

Future Counterpart

The grown-up Xie Xie introduces himself as the Spacetime God. His restrained aura is powerful enough to make several students struggle to remain standing 257 258.

• His displayed pressure greatly exceeds what the students previously felt from Wu Zhangkong wearing Two-Word Battle Armor 258.
• Ning Rongrong estimates that even Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo together would probably be defeated instantly by him 258.
