Background / History

Er Ming lived in the Star Dou Great Forest alongside Xiao Wu and Da Ming. After sensing Xiao Wu's aura, he seized her from the human party and brought her to a safe location. Xiao Wu scolded him for acting without warning, but he revealed that he had missed her; his stubborn, childlike response quickly softened her anger. 77

Xiao Wu told Er Ming that she had encountered a human with the Titan Giant Ape martial soul. Shocked that a human could bear such a martial soul, Er Ming set out to find this person despite Xiao Wu's warning not to cause trouble. Before leaving, he also agreed to “teach a lesson” to the golden-haired girl Xiao Wu disliked. 77

Er Ming located Yuanen Yehui, whose Titan Giant Ape martial soul gave him an inexplicable sense of bloodline connection. He demanded that Yuanen accompany him, then identified Ye Xinglan as the blond human Xiao Wu had mentioned and attempted to punish her. Ye Xinglan, Yuanen, Meng Yiran, and Chao Tianxiang could not harm him; Er Ming's aura alone overwhelmed the group. 77 78

Chen Xinjie intervened when Er Ming tried to swat Ye Xinglan away. Chen defeated him overwhelmingly, stopped his attempt to flee, prevented him from self-destructing, and transported him back to Shrek Academy for confinement in the Confinement Room. 78 79 80

Er Ming's disappearance deeply distressed Da Ming and Xiao Wu, who initially believed that humans had killed or captured him. Da Ming blamed himself for ignoring the distant aura of Er Ming's battle, while Xiao Wu felt responsible for having sent Er Ming toward Ye Xinglan. 104 105 During his time locked in Shrek Academy's Confinement Room, Er Ming was occasionally beaten up by students, suffering considerable humiliation before eventually returning. 243

Later, Er Ming and Da Ming appeared at the Clear Sky Sect after Tang San's future god-self had contacted them. They escorted Tang San through the poisonous outskirts of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, assisted in his body refinement, and accompanied him when he sought soul beasts for a Clear Sky Hammer soul ring. 181 182 183 He subsequently stood behind Tang San during Tang San's challenge to Tang Wulin. 184 Later on, Er Ming is encountered by Di Tian and the Dragon King version of Di Tian in the Star Dou Great Forest following these events. 240 243

Appearance

In beast form, Er Ming is an enormous Titan Giant Ape with dark skin, massive fists, a huge skull, and lantern-like eyes. His voice is described as low and thunderous. 77 78

Er Ming is intensely attached to Xiao Wu. He missed her enough to disregard the danger of exposing their connection, and he readily obeyed her request to confront Ye Xinglan. His affection is paired with a childlike stubbornness: he insists he is strong enough to investigate danger, promising to run if he cannot win. 77

He is curious about beings connected to his own bloodline, particularly Yuanen Yehui's Titan Giant Ape martial soul. However, his curiosity quickly becomes forceful; rather than asking her to explain further, he orders her to accompany him. 77 78

Despite his confidence as the King of the Forest, Er Ming recognizes hopeless odds. When Chen Xinjie overwhelms him, he attempts to flee, then makes a final desperate attack and considers self-destruction rather than allowing humans to take his soul ring and soul bone. 79 After experiencing defeat, capture, and getting beaten up by human students in Shrek Academy's confinement room, he displays a sense of grievance regarding his mistreatment. 243
