Background

Yu Ming formerly served as a high-level theory instructor at Thunder Academy. Yu Tianqing studied under him in his youth and was regarded as half his disciple. After retiring because of his age and reduced energy, Yu Ming lived in semi-retirement within the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, tending flowers and herbs while researching ancient texts in the clan library. 5

Yu Tianqing invited him out of retirement to teach Yu Changge martial soul theory. Yu Ming treated Changge generously, teaching him all he knew and offering cultivation insights beyond those of Yu Tianqing. 5 10

When Changge prepared to obtain his first soul ring, Yu Ming helped evaluate Xiao Huang's unknown attributes. He proposed testing the martial soul's reaction to meat from sub-dragon soul beasts of different attributes, followed by resistance tests against corresponding soul skills. Though he considered lightning inheritance likely because of Changge's lineage, he stressed that the attribute still required verification. 12

After receiving an immortal-grade herb, Yu Ming's Soul Power rose only modestly, but his foundation, origin, tendons, marrow, and cultivation aptitude were improved; despite being in his seventies, he retained the potential to become a Titled Douluo. 85

He later left the clan alongside Yu Tianqing and Yu Shuyao, joining them at Thunder Academy to avoid suspicion surrounding their growth and connection to Yu Changge. 68
