Acquisition and Absorption

• A Soul Ring manifests after a Soul Beast is killed. The Soul Master then guides the ring into their body and absorbs its energy while meditating. 17
• Absorption can force violent energy through the Soul Master's meridians and place severe pressure on their body; exceeding one's limits risks bodily failure. 17 149
• Ring selection is based on both age and attribute compatibility. A suitable ring can support a Martial Soul's development, while an incompatible one can send its growth in the wrong direction. 12 125

Effects

• A Soul Ring grants a Soul Skill and strengthens the Soul Master's overall attributes, including Soul Power and physical ability. 49 160
• Higher-age rings provide greater benefits, but also impose greater physical and spiritual requirements. Soul Beasts of the same age may still create different levels of absorption pressure. 149
• Highly compatible rings can provide unusually efficient results. Yu Changge attributes his rapid gain from the Heavenly Dragon Horse ring to its compatible dragon bloodline. 104
• Soul Ring absorption can coincide with Martial Soul evolution. Yu Changge's first ring causes Xiao Huang to develop sacred golden radiance, while later compatible rings continue its dragon-type growth. 17 61
• A Soul Beast's desired innate ability is not guaranteed to become the absorbed Soul Skill. Even when an appropriate Soul Beast is found, the final result remains uncertain. 202

Body Martial Soul Attribute Development

Body Martial Souls are generally attribute-less initially, with their attributes determined by absorbed Soul Rings. Those already displaying beastly traits can possess established attributes instead. Yu Changge develops his full-body Martial Soul around five elemental rings corresponding to the five viscera, reserving the remaining four rings for spiritual power and strength. 149 283

• Yu Changge's Fifth Asura God Trial requires him to become a Titled Douluo and obtain Body Martial Soul rings of at least the hundred-thousand-year tier for all five elemental attributes. 307
• By the time he has obtained the Evil Orca King and Golden Hawksbill Turtle rings, his metal-, wood-, and fire-attribute rings remain outstanding. Other prospective targets for his broader configuration include the Nine-Headed Bat King and the nearly million-year Sky Dream Ice Silkworm. 361

Limits and Risks

• The first several Soul Rings form the foundation for later absorption. Higher-quality early rings improve a Soul Master's prospects of withstanding a ten-thousand-year fifth ring. 49 148
• Ten-thousand-year rings retain the resentment of the slain Soul Beast and inflict a soul shock during absorption. Enduring it requires mental strength at least comparable to that of a genius Soul King. 148
• A Soul Master should not absorb at their exact physical limit. Even a ring whose age appears within that limit can cause the body to fail. 149
• Repeatedly choosing rings with clashing attributes can prevent a Martial Soul from evolving properly and produce unsuitable Soul Skills, as seen in Luo Sanpao's gas-based abilities. 45 125 163
• Higher-age Soul Skills can consume much more Soul Power. Yu Changge finds that his 8,500-year third ring makes its skill several times more costly than an ordinary third-ring skill. 74
• Even exceptionally strong Soul Masters must assess a ring's age against their physique and willpower. Ordinary Soul Masters are generally unable to withstand a two-hundred-thousand-year ring. 289
• Cultivating Twin Martial Souls requires a strong physique: conflicting attribute powers from their rings can overwhelm the body and cause it to explode. Strengthening the body before adding rings to the second Martial Soul is therefore an important preparation. 20

Special Soul Rings

God-Bestowed Soul Ring

A God-Bestowed Soul Ring is created through divine power rather than obtained by directly killing a Soul Beast.

• Qian Daoliu uses Angel Divine Power to provide Qian Xunji with a God-Bestowed Soul Ring capable of reaching the hundred-thousand-year tier. 106 107
• Yu Changge's God-Bestowed Soul Ring begins as black during absorption, then turns red once it reaches the hundred-thousand-year level. 238
• Such rings can enable extraordinary breakthroughs: Qian Xunji uses his hundred-thousand-year ninth ring to reach rank 92 and gain two Soul Skills. 107
• Bo Saixi distributes God-Bestowed Soul Rings to Yu Changge and Tang Hao during their Sea God Island trials. Tang Hao saves his for his eighth ring, while Yu Changge immediately uses his for his eighth. 282 283 313

Inner Pellet and Dragon Core Rings

Yu Changge proposes forming Soul Rings from concentrated energy sources other than a slain Soul Beast's manifested ring. Exotic beasts leave behind Inner Pellets rather than Soul Rings, while a Soul Ring is described as the embodiment of a Soul Beast's entire energy. 76 236

• Yu Changge estimates that the Dragon Core contains enough energy to form a ring of roughly 110,000 years and leaves its use to his parents. 236
• He gives Yu Ming the Ten Headed Fierce Yang Serpent's Inner Pellet for use as a ninth ring or cultivation resource. Yu Ming's later eligibility for a God-Bestowed Soul Ring allows the pellet to be reserved for improving his fire attribute or storing energy instead. 236 299

Ring Fusion

Ring Fusion combines the power of multiple Soul Rings into a stronger effect.

• The technique demands exceptional talent; Qian Xunji states that few known Soul Masters can use it. 84
• The Angel Clan's Holy Fusion Technique is a related secret art that combines at least two Soul Rings, with greater talent allowing more rings to be fused. 84
• After three months of practice, Yu Changge reduces the fusion time for his first and second rings from five minutes to roughly ten seconds. 87
• Yu Changge later merges his second and third rings into his first while fighting the Radiant Dragon Ni. 136
• Innate aptitude is indispensable: instruction alone cannot teach Ring Fusion to someone without the necessary talent. Yu Changge confirms his aptitude by briefly fusing a trace of energy between his first two rings, although the attempt exhausts his Soul Power. 81
• Fusion time limits its battlefield usefulness. Xiao Huang's ability to hold an opponent at the front allows Yu Changge to make practical use of a technique that still requires roughly ten seconds to prepare. 87

Ring Detonation

Ring Detonation is a Clear Sky Sect inherited secret art that releases extreme instantaneous power at considerable cost.

• It is more explosive than equivalent Ring Fusion, but its side effects are much harsher. 113
• Attempting it without sufficient physique and high-quality Spirit Bones is described as potentially fatal. 113
• Tang Chen intends to teach Tang Xiao the art after the latter obtains a hundred-thousand-year eighth ring; he also considers it a future advantage for Tang Hao against Yu Changge. 284 289
• Its stated prerequisites include reaching Titled Douluo and possessing at least six Spirit Bones of decent quality to support the strain. Failing to grasp the technique can cause severe injury or the complete shattering of one's Soul Rings. 81 284

True Dragon Nine Crowns Enhancement

• The True Dragon Nine Crowns can raise a Soul Ring's age through a special power merged into it. Yu Xiaolong uses this effect to bring his ninth ring to nearly 100,000 years, increasing his physical strength and Soul Skill power. His Thunder Soul Core replenishes the associated Soul Power expenditure and makes the technique's side effects easier to bear. 363
