Awakening and Inheritance

Martial Souls are awakened during ceremonies held for children who have reached six years of age. The awakening array reveals both the Martial Soul and the child’s Innate Soul Power. 1

A Martial Soul is tied to bloodline inheritance. Children usually inherit a parent’s Martial Soul or attributes, but ancestral traits can reappear instead, producing unexpected forms or elemental mutations. 12

• A visibly absent manifestation does not necessarily mean awakening failed; Body Martial Souls may manifest through the wielder’s own body and require a Soul Power test to identify. 150 151

External Beast Martial Souls

External Beast Martial Souls cannot use Martial Soul Possession, leaving their users without the usual close-combat increase to strength and defense. Their users may therefore rely on physical conditioning, weapons, or direct coordination with the manifested Martial Soul. 3 6

• They can act independently in battle and respond to their master without spoken commands. 65

Attributes and Soul Ring Compatibility

A Martial Soul’s elemental attributes determine which Soul Beasts and Soul Rings are most compatible with it. Obvious attributes, such as the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon’s lightning, can be identified immediately; hidden attributes require testing. 12 110

Martial Soul Evolution

Xiao Huang’s recorded evolution demonstrates this process: initially dismissed as a Piglet Martial Soul, it developed into the Golden Sacred Dragon and was later purified into the Radiant Sacred Dragon through Angel Divine Power. 1 114 115

Body Martial Souls

Body Martial Souls are defined as Martial Souls in which part or all of the soul master’s own body functions as the Martial Soul and can independently bear Soul Rings. 117 160

Yu Changge proposed the classification after distinguishing his own draconic body transformation from a true Body Martial Soul: his transformed Golden Dragon Claw could not receive Soul Rings separately, whereas a genuine Body Martial Soul’s arm, eye, or other body part could. 117

Body Martial Souls generally begin without a fixed elemental attribute; their attributes can be shaped by the Soul Rings their users absorb. 149

Spirit Hall Recognition

Spirit Hall confirmed that unusual body-based Martial Souls had existed historically under the label “aberrants.” 117 At Yu Changge’s request, it later announced the Body Martial Soul classification across the continent and invited holders to join Spirit Hall for resources and research support. 141 149

• The announcement identified Gui Mei as a Body Martial Soul user and named Yu Changge as the classification’s proposer. 149
• Spirit Hall gathered suspected Body Martial Soul users, initially bringing together twenty-two children between six and twelve years old. 156

Development Theory

Yu Changge’s Body Martial Soul research presents two main hypotheses:

His training program also treats Body Martial Souls as especially responsive to two evolutionary routes:

• Compatible Soul Ring absorption — higher-quality and better-matched rings may raise Martial Soul quality. 161
• Near-Death Training — repeated survival under extreme conditions is intended to stimulate a Second Awakening, though the process carries genuine risk despite healer and elder supervision. 161 162
