Background / History
Qin Yao is a transmigrator who entered the body of a thirteen-year-old collateral descendant of the Qin Family in Red River County. Born with disabled—or “useless”—meridians, he was unable to follow the ordinary path of martial cultivation. After three years of study, he attained the position of provincial top scorer, or Jieyuan, only for Qin Yuwei and the Qin main clan to steal his scholarly honors and falsely accuse him of cheating. 1 415
While enslaved in the Iron Mountain Mining Area, he awakened the Grind Emperor System. By repeatedly practicing skills, he gained proficiency, physical reinforcement, and System Coupons; his mining ability quickly reached Mastery Realm. He also used his growing strength to help fellow slaves meet their quotas. 5 7 8
After a general amnesty connected to the Grand Empress Dowager’s birthday, Qin Yao was stripped of his mine-slave status and became a villager eligible to report to the local yamen. He later served as a low-ranking clerk in Tang Village. 47 292
His strength and battlefield achievements brought him into the Foreign Repelling Camp, where he became squad leader of the Sharp Blade Squad. He accumulated nearly 18,000 military merit points and personally killed over a thousand Golden Frost Barbarians, earning the public title of “Foreign Repelling Spearhead.” 190 359 364 422
Following his advancement to the Innate Realm, Emperor Yan Qinyu appointed him a second-rank Northern Expedition General and assigned him 30,000 troops for a northern campaign against the Golden Frost Barbarians. The soldiers of the Flame Lion Army initially doubted their young commander, but Qin Yao began establishing authority through his personal strength, leadership, and battlefield results. 498 500 514 515
During the northern expedition, Qin Yao rushed ahead to the devastated Twin Leaf County, slaughtered hundreds of barbarian cavalrymen, and protected the local Yan civilians. His subsequent actions in Nine Suns City and the wider northern theater drew further recognition from both the military and the imperial court. 534 543 564 567 574
Personality
Qin Yao is relentlessly industrious. He regards nearly any activity as an opportunity to gain proficiency, whether mining, forging, logging, tracking, carving, or martial practice. He is willing to work through exhaustion when a skill or objective demands it. 16 102 273 351
He is protective of his family and comrades. He retaliates fiercely against those who harm Qin Dashan, provides for his household, repairs soldiers’ weapons, and repeatedly risks himself to save civilians and squad members. 20 273 278 288 534
His kindness is tempered by ruthlessness toward enemies. Qin Yao can be merciless when confronting the Yu Family, assassins, or barbarian forces, but he also uses restraint and calculation when sparing an opponent better serves his plans. 23 299 301 534
A highly capable actor, he often conceals his true strength beneath the image of a frail scholar or exhausted fighter. He uses this deception strategically to mislead overseers, rivals, spectators, and even his own soldiers; during the northern expedition, he deliberately concealed his Innate Realm cultivation until the most advantageous moment. 81 111 400 422 519
Despite gaining high office, Qin Yao has little personal interest in political struggles, rank, or wealth. His principal ambition is to fulfill his obligations to Great Yan while finding a means to cleanse his sinews, remold his false meridians, and prolong his limited lifespan. 484 496 574
