History

Majin Buu was sealed away by the wizard Bibidi long before the novel’s present events. Roger warns East Supreme Kai that Babidi will eventually break Buu’s seal, though Roger later defeats Babidi himself and acquires the magic used to seal Buu. 19 104

Roger instead releases Buu from a giant pink egg on Earth, using a spell to transform the pink gas within into Buu’s body. He offers Buu food in exchange for fighting Son Goku, establishing food as the easiest way to secure his cooperation. 103

Buu first battles Vegeta, enduring his Super Saiyan II assault through rapid regeneration before overwhelming and defeating him. He then fights Super Saiyan III Goku; although Goku damages and even blasts holes through Buu’s body, Buu continually regenerates until Goku runs out of stamina and concedes. 104 105 106 107

Concerned that Buu does not truly obey him, Roger forcibly draws out Buu’s evil side, Evil Buu. Evil Buu defeats the original Buu in their Transfiguration Beam clash and turns him into chocolate, but Roger prevents Evil Buu from consuming him and destroys Evil Buu with a Super Saiyan Rosé Kamehameha. 108 109

Roger later places Buu in Pilaf’s group’s care, paying them to teach him basic knowledge about Earth and warning them not to provoke him. Araki subsequently becomes Buu’s subordinate and is forced to prepare his food; Buu also becomes a frequent playmate for Goten and the other children. 110 130

During the Tournament of Power, Buu fights Universe 9’s Trio of Danger. After Basil is driven to the arena’s edge, Buu turns him into candy, throws the candy out of bounds, and restores Basil’s body only after his elimination is confirmed. 165 166 167

Appearance

Majin Buu is a fat, pink-skinned humanoid with a long antenna extending from his head. He wears a black vest, loose white trousers, and a belt marked with an “M.” 103

Buu is playful, childlike, and intensely food-motivated. Upon regaining his freedom, he celebrates by dancing in the sky; after defeating Goku, he immediately flies to Roger to claim the food he was promised. 103 107

Despite his destructive strength, he can be unexpectedly polite, asking Vegeta whether he wishes to continue their fight and accepting Goku’s surrender without further violence. However, he becomes volatile when angered or insulted, particularly when Bergamo calls him “fatso.” 105 165
