So this breeding chamber was basically a silk-spinning room, with Super Spider webbing everywhere.
Toby sneered.
In his view, before finding a way to decipher the Super Spiders, Norman Osborn had sent people to deal with the person who bred them. His hereditary family disease had truly tormented him into becoming a senile fool!
Keeping these Super Spiders at Osborn Enterprises was simply a waste!
Moreover, Osborn Enterprises had no right to possess the Super Spiders created by the Parker Family's intelligence!
A cold glint flashed in Toby's eyes.
His left hand pressed against his right wrist. With a soft pfft, more than a dozen strands of webbing, far thinner than normal, shot from his wrist and precisely wrapped around more than a dozen Super Spiders!
With a pull of Toby's wrist, the dozen or so Super Spiders were wrapped into little web balls only slightly larger than marbles as they were reeled in.
There were tiny gaps in the web balls, so Carl did not need to worry about the Super Spiders dying anytime soon. She directly placed them into the pockets of her loose outer coat.
Next, Toby fired more balls of webbing, sealing the fire sprinkler outlets on the ceiling shut with webs.
Finally, he took a firebomb with a specially made casing—one that even security screening could not detect—from another pocket and pulled off its ring with one hand.
Click—clunk.
As the ring hit the floor, Toby casually tossed the firebomb into the breeding chamber covered in webs.
The firebomb's blazing white flames touched the webbing in the chamber, and the fire instantly spread throughout the entire room along the webs, igniting the countless Super Spiders caught on them.
Amid the shrill squeals of the Super Spiders, Toby walked out of the breeding chamber without a trace of emotion.
Osborn did not deserve to possess these Super Spiders, and Toby certainly could not allow anyone else to obtain them!
Though the odds were slim, he did not want anyone other than himself to one day crack the Super Spiders' genetic lock and gain Spider-Man's powers.
Therefore, aside from the Super Spiders in his possession, it would be best if all the rest vanished from this world!
This world needed Spider-Man, but it did not need so many Spider-Men...
After Toby left the Super Spider breeding chamber, piercing fire alarms had already begun blaring throughout Osborn Tower.
Because he had blocked the chamber's sprinkler outlets in advance, the blaze inside could not be brought under control. After burning all the Super Spiders to death, it was already showing signs of spreading outside.
Toby did not care in the slightest. He merely strolled among the panicked evacuating crowd, quietly approached Peter from behind as he too was leaving the tower with everyone else, removed a Super Spider from its web cocoon, and placed it inside Peter's collar.
Then he vanished without a sound and appeared beside Gwen, who was looking around anxiously through the crowd. He wrapped an arm around her waist, shielding her in his embrace, and easily forced a path through the crowd with his superior build.
The moment Gwen caught the faint woody scent of incense on Toby, she immediately felt incomparably safe. Leaning against his broad chest, she let him lead her out of the tower.
He really did carry her out. Given the difference in height between Gwen and Toby, once Toby had his arm around her waist, a light lift was enough to raise both her feet off the ground. She did not even need to take a single step herself...
By the time they emerged from Osborn Tower, Gwen was already slightly intoxicated like a kitten that had sniffed catnip, her cheeks flushed as she reluctantly remained in Toby's arms.
But Gwen soon noticed someone even more out of it than she was.
That person was Peter.
Peter was currently squatting on the ground with a hand over his head, while Dr. Connors stood beside him with a face full of worry.
At the sight, Gwen's hazy mind immediately cleared. She grabbed Toby and hurried toward Peter.
"Oh my God, Professor, what happened to Peter?" Gwen anxiously asked Dr. Connors as she looked at Peter, whose face was burning hot.
Dr. Connors was equally anxious and bewildered.
"I don't know either. Peter and I had only just begun our new algorithm experiment when the emergency evacuation alarm went off in the building. Peter and I hurried out with everyone else."
"But just now, Peter suddenly cried out while we were in the evacuation crowd. Not long after that, something seemed wrong with him. He said he was dizzy, and I was just about to call emergency services."
Hearing this, Toby stopped Dr. Connors from calling emergency services. He lifted Peter up with one hand and shook his head.
"It's too chaotic here, and the paramedics might not arrive in time. I drove here, so I'll take Peter to the hospital now. Don't worry."
Seeing how composed Toby was, both Dr. Connors and Gwen could not help but breathe a sigh of relief and nodded in understanding.
Since Toby's Audi R8 was a two-seater, Dr. Connors and Gwen had no way to go with him. They could only tell Toby to make sure to notify them once Peter was all right.
After readily agreeing, Toby helped the half-conscious Peter into the R8 parked by the roadside.
However, after starting the car and driving away, he did not take Peter to the hospital as he had told them. Instead, he drove toward home.
Because Toby knew full well that Peter was not sick at all...
His body's genes were being reorganized. That was not something an ordinary doctor could solve.
And even if they could solve it, Peter did not need them to.
This was a gift from heaven, not a disaster!
After bringing the already unconscious Peter home, Toby did not find Ben or May there.
It was the weekend, so they were off work too.
Toby guessed that his dad had taken his mom for a drive in the new car.
Maybe they would not even come back tonight~
And it was better if they did not come back, so he would not have to come up with an excuse to explain Peter's condition.
After putting Peter back in his room and tucking him under the covers, Toby left him alone.
Now all he had to do was wait for Peter to complete his transformation on his own.
As for everything else, he could explain it to Peter slowly tomorrow.
And just as Toby had expected, Ben and May had no plans to come home today. They only gave Toby a call, telling him and Peter to sort out dinner themselves. They had something to do and would not be back until tomorrow morning.
Toby only hoped that, at their age, the old couple would not go and give him another little brother...
But in truth, his parents in this universe, Ben and May, were not as old as the versions from the first and second film series. They were closer in age to Aunt May from the third-generation Holland Spider-Man films.
They were in their fifties. Not young, certainly, but definitely not old.
And because Toby had spent the past two years constantly buying supplements for the house, the old couple actually looked no different from middle-aged people in their forties.
Which meant the two of them were fully capable of enjoying a second spring...
After placing the remaining Super Spider into the terrarium he had prepared in his private basement gym, Toby made himself a nutritious and delicious dinner, giving his taste buds a night off from May's torment.
