Background
In her youth, Ye Xishui served as the Holy Spirit Church's Saintess. Acting under Zhongli Old Ghost's orders, she approached Mu En and Long Xiaoyao, made both men fall in love with her, posed as Mu En's girlfriend, and engineered a situation in which Mu En found her with Long Xiaoyao. The incident permanently destroyed the two men's friendship. 104
Ye Xishui later became the Holy Spirit Cult's Supreme Leader. She views the Sun and Moon Empire as an eventual existential threat, believing that Emperor Xu Jing would destroy the cult once it was no longer useful or capable of resisting. 104
When Wang Chen emerged as an exceptionally powerful young genius and became Kong Deming's disciple, Ye Xishui judged him a grave danger to the cult. She ordered concealed experts to watch him and kill him when he left Mingdu to obtain a Soul Ring. 103 104
After Yan Shaozhe's death, Ye Xishui was consumed by grief and revenge. She met the dying Mu En, obtained intelligence confirming that Wang Chen was responsible, and elevated Wang Chen to the top of her kill list. 132 148

She is also highly manipulative in her dealings with Long Xiaoyao. Her past deception of both Long Xiaoyao and Mu En shaped their century-long estrangement, while Wang Chen's exposure of that past drove her into a desperate rage. 104 150 151
Despite her cruelty, Ye Xishui can act pragmatically when the cult's survival is at stake. During the battle against the Douluo Three Kingdoms' allied forces, she proposed a truce rather than allow the Holy Spirit Cult's core strength to be destroyed. 193 194
