Background / History

The Tang Sect is a severely declined sect whose surviving inheritance includes incomplete versions of techniques such as Ghost Shadow Track. Tang Ya dedicates herself to reviving it, while Bei Bei supports her as both her lover and a Tang Sect member. At the time of its confrontation with Ning An, the sect effectively consists only of Tang Ya and Bei Bei. 11 12 14

After witnessing Ning An's mastery of Ghost Shadow Track, Tang Ya and Bei Bei accuse him of stealing Tang Sect secret arts. Ning An instead claims that the Tang Sect inherited only incomplete portions of the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's “Nine Treasure Arts,” renamed them, and treated them as its own inheritance. 11 12

Tang Ya challenges Ning An to a race using Ghost Shadow Track to establish which lineage is superior. Ning An wins decisively, using the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda's Speed enhancement and secretly taking Tang Ya's hair tie during the contest. Tang Ya and Bei Bei accept Ning An's claim that their arts are incomplete and apologize on the Tang Sect's behalf. 13 14

Rather than dissolve the sect, Ning An accepts it as an affiliated sect of the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. The Tang Sect must surrender 80% of the resources it gains and all future hidden weapons it forges, retaining 20% for operations and member cultivation. In return, Ning An permits it to continue existing and holds out the possibility of teaching authentic ultimate arts. 14

Secret Arts

Incomplete Tang Sect Secret Arts

The Tang Sect preserves incomplete versions of several techniques, particularly Ghost Shadow Track. Ning An identifies the missing soul-power circulation method as the key limitation of its movement art. 12

• Ghost Shadow Track — permits short-range evasive footwork, but is described as incomplete compared with Ning An's version. 12

Nine Treasure Arts

Ning An calls his complete set of techniques the Nine Treasure Arts. He states that they are the original, complete lineage behind the Tang Sect's incomplete arts. 10 12

• Ghost Shadow Track — combines complete footwork with soul-power circulation, allowing its user to ride the wind, shift between real and illusory movement, and leave little trace. 10 12
• Jade Hand — tempers the hands to a jade-like, diamond-hard state; it can block weapons and resist poison. 10 11
• Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon — manipulates force, controls objects at range, and can seize or bind opponents. 10 11
• Purple Demon Eye — enhances perception and can see through illusions. 10
• Hundred Solutions to Hidden Weapons — encompasses varied hidden-weapon methods and trajectories. 10 12

Organization

• Sect Master Tang Ya — current Tang Sect Sect Master; initially challenges Ning An over the ownership of Ghost Shadow Track, then swears the Tang Sect's fealty to the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 11 12 14
• Bei Bei — Tang Ya's lover and a Tang Sect member; initially defends the Tang Sect's inheritance, then accepts Ning An's superiority and the new affiliation. 11 12 14

Relationship with the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

• Ning An — the Tang Sect recognizes Ning An's claimed authority over the complete arts and becomes his sect's affiliate after the movement-technique duel. 12 14
• Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect — receives 80% of the Tang Sect's acquired resources and all hidden weapons forged by the Tang Sect; the affiliation preserves the Tang Sect rather than eliminating it. 14
