Background / History

Shrek Academy is described as the continent's number-one soul master academy and a destination for elite young soul masters. The academy grants the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect one annual admission-exemption quota; the Tang Sect also possesses an exemption quota limited to its own disciples 7 15.

After Ning An's victory over the affiliated sect prodigies and the evolution of his pagoda martial soul, the main city's lord personally delivers a Shrek recommendation letter to him, along with valuable cultivation resources 6 7. Ning An later travels to Shrek with Ning Tian, Huo Yuhao, Tang Ya, and Bei Bei; Ning Tian and Huo Yuhao use exemption admissions, while Ning An enters through the regular assessment route 18 19.

Ning An's entrance examination becomes an unprecedented incident when he defeats fourth-stage examiner Dai Yueheng, a Rank 59 Soul King. The event draws Yan Shaozhe and ultimately Mu En from the Sea God Pavilion; Mu En then offers to accept Ning An as his final disciple after the freshman tournament 23 28.

• Mu En — An Ultimate Douluo, Shrek's stabilizing pillar, and a leading figure of the Sea God Pavilion. He publicly protects Ning An, gifts him a fifty-thousand-year Earth Berserker Bear left arm bone, and offers to take him as his final disciple after the freshman tournament 28.
• Yan Shaozhe — A Titled Douluo who responds to Dai Yueheng's defeat. Under Mu En's instruction, he escorts Ning An to the freshmen dormitories, guards his soul-bone absorption, and treats him as a junior brother 27 28.

Ning An's Enrollment

Shrek becomes Ning An's next destination after the main city provides him with a recommendation letter. He regards the academy as a useful stepping stone, while bringing Ning Tian along under the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's exemption quota 7 22.

Tang Ya and Bei Bei arrange admission for Ning Tian and Huo Yuhao through exemption channels. Ning An enters the assessment plaza alone and proceeds through the standard process using his recommendation letter 15 19.

Fourth-Stage Examination

Ning An's Rank 28 soul-power test earns him exceptional admission and passage directly to the fourth stage 23. There, he refuses Dai Yueheng's order to wait, completing a system mission that raises him to Rank 33 and allows the simultaneous use of his two martial souls 24.

Rather than merely enduring the required incense-stick duration, Ning An battles Dai Yueheng directly. Using the Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear, Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda enhancements, and the Nine Treasure Arts, he defeats the Soul King examiner within half the allotted time 25 27.

Mu En's Intervention

Dai Yueheng's defeat triggers an emergency report to the Inner Court and the Sea God Pavilion 27. Mu En personally investigates, recognizes Ning An's talent and temperament, grants him a soul bone, and establishes Yan Shaozhe and himself as people Ning An may seek out for aid at the academy 28.
