History

After Rody publicly killed Celestial Dragons at the Sabaody Archipelago, Sengoku dispatched Kizaru to stop him while Garp and Tsuru prepared reinforcements. Kizaru arrived alone, questioned Rody's motive, and attempted to secure Charlia's release without fighting. 85

Rody forced Kizaru into battle by placing a bomb in Charlia's mouth and challenging him to settle “light” against “lightning.” Their fight devastated most of Sabaody, destroying forty of its seventy-nine mangroves after fifteen minutes at maximum power. 85 87
