Background / History
Fire Wielder was a savage of Death Island and is referred to as its former chief. He initially resisted Luo Ze's attempt to recruit him, but Luo Ze intercepted his escape and gave him a final choice between submission and death. Overwhelmed by Luo Ze's power, he bowed in allegiance and received the name “Fire Wielder.” 188 191
Under Luo Ze's training, Fire Wielder rapidly learned Observation Haki and Shave. His natural speed, technical precision, and ability to predict opponents' movements allowed him to surpass Big Guy in mobility-based combat. 193 198
He later became one of Luo Ze's principal generals, helping lead the Savage Tribe against the Snake Tribe and participating in the expansion of Luo Ze's organization, Absolute. Luo Ze eventually provided him with the Melt-Melt Fruit to improve his ability to defeat heavily armored opponents. 197 261 278
Appearance
Fire Wielder is associated with Absolute's red-robed, masked attire and wears a Wolfdog mask when operating as the captain of the Second Squad. 276 303
Personality
Fire Wielder is observant, analytical, and notably more calculating than Big Guy. He studies opponents' abilities, recognizes tactical disadvantages, and favors the safest effective method rather than charging into an opponent's final attack. 199 200 258
He is ruthless in battle and believes that an opening should be exploited immediately rather than wasted on taunts or theatrics. 201 Despite this, he can exercise precise restraint when ordered not to kill, such as when subduing the Sky Island priests. 234
After submitting to Luo Ze, Fire Wielder becomes intensely loyal and accepts Luo Ze's orders without objection. He also reconciles with Big Guy, whom he comes to regard as a close comrade. 193 197 203
Abilities & Skills
Flame Manipulation
Fire Wielder can generate and control exceptionally high-temperature flames without a Devil Fruit. His fire excels at large-scale attacks, battlefield control, and overwhelming weaker groups of enemies. 197 201 241
- His flames are recorded at 2,500°C during the Snake Tribe conflict and later described as reaching 3,000°C. 201 238
- Can reduce swarms of venomous snakes to ash, eventually overpowering their Armament Haki defenses through sustained heat. 198
- Can deliberately lower his flames to roughly 500°C to incapacitate rather than kill targets. 234
- His original weakness was insufficient single-target killing power against exceptionally durable opponents. 250 281
Flame Realm
Flame Realm envelops Fire Wielder's hand in concentrated flames, allowing him to strike with high-temperature punches and claws. 201 202
- Used to burn Black Flash's tail through its Armament Haki defense. 201
- Can be focused into a claw-like strike aimed at vulnerable points such as an opponent's head. 201
- Requires him to close distance, leaving him vulnerable to faster coordinated opponents. 202
Fire Lotus and Flame Constructs
Fire Wielder can shape his flames into large constructs for wide-area suppression and capture. 197 234 258
- Fire Lotus — Creates enormous flaming lotus flowers that spread into a sea of fire against large groups. 197
- Flame flowers — Produces multiple controlled flame constructs to subdue several opponents at once. 234 235
- Flame Chain — Launches a 3,000°C flaming chain to restrain or wear down an opponent from range. 258
- Flame wall — Creates a defensive barrier capable of dissipating much of Big Guy's punch force. 234
Melt-Melt Fruit
Fire Wielder later consumes the Paramecia-type Melt-Melt Fruit, which gives his flames the property of melting. 278
- Greatly increases his offensive power against opponents with powerful physical defenses or Armament Haki. 278 281
- The fruit is stated to be capable of melting Armament Haki, with the upper limit depending on Fire Wielder's own strength and development. 278
- Its combination with his pre-existing flames enables highly destructive large-scale techniques. 278 281
Observation Haki
Fire Wielder possesses exceptional talent for Observation Haki and is considered the Savage Tribe's most skilled user aside from Luo Ze. 193 198
- Predicts opponents' movements, allowing him to evade attacks from faster enemies such as Black Flash. 201
- Can detect hostile intentions and see through deception, as demonstrated against Vice Admiral Dalmatian. 258
- His awareness makes ambushing him extremely difficult for anyone other than Luo Ze. 198
Armament Haki
Fire Wielder can use Armament Haki in combat, allowing him to contend with opponents who also possess Haki. 202 203
- His Armament Haki can reinforce his attacks against armored enemies. 202
- He deliberately avoids relying on Armament Haki to protect vital areas during the battle against Black Flash and White Flash. 203
Navy Six Powers
Luo Ze taught Fire Wielder techniques from the Navy Six Powers, which Fire Wielder adapted to complement his natural speed. 193 200
- Shave — His primary mobility technique; his refined control of exertion makes him significantly faster than Big Guy. 193 200 201
- Geppo — Used alongside Shave during high-speed combat. 201
Relationships
- Luo Ze — Chief and benefactor. Luo Ze defeats and recruits him, gives him his name, trains him in Haki and the Navy Six Powers, and later provides the Melt-Melt Fruit. 188 193 278
- Big Guy — Fellow general and former rival. Their conflict is resolved under Luo Ze, and they develop mutual respect and a close bond in battle. 197 203 250
- Trafalgar Law — Fellow member of Luo Ze's forces and Absolute. Fire Wielder fights alongside Law's group and is assessed by Luo Ze alongside him and Big Guy. 235 261
- Black Flash — Snake Tribe general whom Fire Wielder overwhelms individually with Flame Realm and Observation Haki. 201
- White Flash — Snake Tribe general whose superior speed allows Black Flash and White Flash to suppress Fire Wielder when fighting as a pair. 202 204
