Background

Big Guy was a towering warrior of the Savage Tribe on Death Island, considered second only to the tribe's chief. His Skin Hardening ability, combined with Armament Haki, made his defense so formidable that the tribe believed even their chief could not quickly injure him. His principal weakness was stamina: maintaining Skin Hardening consumed enormous amounts of energy. 181 199

Luo Ze defeated and spared Big Guy, offering him strength-training methods in exchange for submission. Big Guy eagerly accepted, and his surrender helped prompt other Savage Tribe warriors to submit as well. Luo Ze then taught him Shave, beginning a mentor-and-subordinate relationship built on Big Guy's admiration for Luo Ze's overwhelming strength. 183 184 186

Following Luo Ze's training, Big Guy became one of the Savage Tribe's generals.
