Meng Shenji serves as one of Heaven Dou Royal Academy's three senior instructors alongside Bai Baoshan and Zhi Lin. All three are Soul Douluo above Rank 80 and participate directly in the academy's annual Martial Soul Awakening ceremony. 1

During Qin Qi's awakening, Meng Shenji identifies his green caterpillar-like martial soul as a detached beast Martial Soul. Though concerned that such a mutation might carry weak innate soul power, he is surprised when Qin Qi tests as having innate full soul power. He encourages Qin Qi to study the unusual martial soul carefully and grants Qin Ming leave to help Qin Qi hunt a suitable soul beast. 1

He takes an increasingly personal role in Qin Qi's education.
