Background / History

Ning Rongrong is the heir to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and the daughter of its sect master, Ning Fengzhi. Her father arranged for her to study at Heaven Dou Royal Academy, partly so she could build ties with its exceptional students and partly so that her willful temperament would be tempered by setbacks outside the sect. Politically, Ning Fengzhi also viewed her association with Qin Qi's circle as a way for the sect to maintain connections on both sides of the imperial succession 46.

Before enrolling, Rongrong watched Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s exchange matches. Qin Qi’s solitary stand against Skywater Academy’s Ice Phoenix fusion technique, as well as his poem and appearance, deeply impressed her. She immediately decided to transfer to Heaven Dou Academy 50.

First Day at Heaven Dou Academy

After enrolling, Rongrong skips class to search for Qin Qi. She establishes dominance over a playboy student through her sect status, then encounters Yu Tianheng and unsuccessfully tries to make him her subordinate 58.

Challenge to Yu Tianheng

Angered by Yu Tianheng’s dismissal, Rongrong pays students to attack him and buffs them with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. Yu Tianheng defeats the entire group with Myriad Thunderbolts, leaving her unconvinced that he is truly stronger 59.

Conflict with Qin Qi

Rongrong tries to use a staged fall and her appearance to avoid Qin Qi’s debt collection, but he mistakes her for a debtor and throws her into the lake. After she threatens him and points at him, he throws her in a second time 60 63.

Her pride suffers a further blow when Qin Qi’s group reveals their ranks and talents. She then spends the day with the same group she had confronted, going shopping, eating braised pork ribs, and drinking tea 61 63.

Attempted Retaliation

Still angry over the lake incident, Rongrong asks Ning Fengzhi to provide several Soul Kings as escorts for her return to the academy. When she arrives with them, Qin Qi and his friends are absent, having gone to Blazing Fire Academy to collect tournament prizes 62 63.

Noble Youth Harassment Incident

While waiting at the academy for Qin Qi’s group to return, Rongrong is invited out by noble students who seek favor with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. She sees through their staged rescue plot, but the hired thugs attack her after the scheme is exposed. Qin Qi and his companions return in time to protect her and defeat the attackers 70 71.

Although she immediately complains about having waited all day to take revenge on Qin Qi, Rongrong joins Dugu Yan and the others on another shopping trip. She provides Seven-Colored Glazed Bracelets for Dugu Yan and Ye Lingling while privately struggling to thank Qin Qi for saving her 71.
