Background

Chiyu was born to an Uchiha mother and a Senju father. The Uchiha clan placed his mother under house arrest after discovering her pregnancy and demanded that she abort him; his father rescued her from the clan compound, and the couple fled Konoha. Hiruzen Sarutobi subsequently declared them rogue ninja and sent Anbu after them. 1

After his parents' deaths, Chiyu returned to Konoha at age four. The Uchiha refused to acknowledge him, while villagers treated him as the descendant of rogue ninja and directed their resentment of the Uchiha toward him. 1 33 At age nine, he activated a System powered by Witness Points, giving him a means to obtain abilities and reinforcing his decision to become strong enough to protect himself. 3

His friendship with Kushina Uzumaki became his first meaningful bond in Konoha. He defended her against bullies, awakened the Sharingan in the process, and gradually became determined to prevent her from being used as the Nine-Tails' Jinchuriki. 15 17 113 197
