• The present Primordial World encompasses the Yin and Yang realms and contains the Human Realm, Netherworld Hell, major sects, and the Great Shang Dynasty's Nine Provinces 156 190.
• It is currently known to have four great continents; its dynasties and sectarian powers are described as innumerable 42.
• At its peak, it was several times larger than its current state and possessed:
  • Three thousand continents.
  • Thirty-three heavens.
  • Eighteen layers of hell. 218
• The Human Realm Nine Provinces are a strategically vital territory. Their dragon veins, the Four Mountains, and the Five Sacred Peaks support Great Shang's large-scale spirit-gathering formations 190 196.
• The Netherworld Blood Sea was formerly located in the world's Nine Nether region before Di Xin collected it into the Chaos Pearl 125 185.

World History

When the Chaos Universe first formed, Universe Ancestor fought Genesis Ancestor, Creation Primordial Spirit, and Ancestor of Chaos for control of the Primordial World. Universe Ancestor defeated them and became its ruling Great Dao, while the three defeated powers fled into the Chaos Universe 199.

The world was not primarily shattered by the Witch-Demon Tribulation. According to Patriarch Bodhi, its greatest destruction resulted from the later battle for control of the Primordial World; its three thousand continents were lost and fragments scattered across the universe 218.

By the time of the Investiture of the Gods Tribulation, the world's Heavenly Dao had entered chaos, preventing cultivators from deducing heavenly secrets or karma 5. The tribulation centers on the Great Shang Dynasty and is intended to suppress the Human Dao's influence 137.

Governing Powers

Great Dao

Universe Ancestor, also known as Dao Venerable Hong Zun, is the true body of the Primordial World's Great Dao and its ruler 161 210.

• The Great Dao can stabilize the world's spacetime and erase chaos and destructive power 156.
• Hong Zun can mobilize the power of all Three Thousand Great Dao laws within the Primordial World 210.
• The Great Dao considers the human race indispensable to the paths of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity, and intervened to prevent the three supreme experts from exterminating it 208.
• It regards Di Xin's Invincible Domain as a potential threat because it lies beyond Hong Zun's control 210 218.

Heavenly Dao

The Heavenly Dao is distinct from the Great Dao. Hongjun wields its authority, while Heavenly Dao Sages are bound to it through their Primordial Spirits 130 152.

• Hongjun's authority can suppress the Earthly Dao within Netherworld Hell 152.
• It can suppress outside powerhouses entering the Primordial World and issue warnings of their arrival 141.
• Its attempts to destroy Great Shang with world-destroying divine lightning failed against Di Xin's Invincible Domain 204.

Earthly Dao

Houtu represents the Earthly Dao and presides over Netherworld Hell. The Heavenly Dao's suppression of her power during the Netherworld Hell conflict demonstrated the tension between the world's governing paths 152.

Manifestations and World Phenomena

Eye of the Great Dao

The Eye of the Great Dao is an avatar or manifestation of the Primordial World's Great Dao 161.

• It appears through an enormous spacetime gateway and radiates Great Dao pressure throughout the world 147.
• It severely injured Hongjun after his actions caused a catastrophic void explosion, then erased the resulting destruction and restored the affected region 162.
• Its appearance distinguishes the Great Dao's authority from the Heavenly Dao, which Hongjun confirmed was not responsible for the Eye 147.

Spacetime Stabilization

Hongjun's self-destruction of the Reversal Divine Stele caused spacetime distortions, chaos, and destructive power throughout both the Yin and Yang realms 155 156.

The Great Dao subsequently manifested, erased the destructive forces, and stabilized the Primordial World's spacetime 156.

Spiritual Qi Recovery

The Primordial World's spiritual qi has begun increasing, indicating that the world is approaching a return to its peak condition 218.

• Great Shang's Nine Provinces became a major focal point for this qi after the Kongtong Seal and Human Sovereign Sword absorbed Great Dao merit 190.
• The Nine Cauldrons and super spirit-gathering formations further concentrated qi into the Human Realm Nine Provinces 190 196.
• A nine-star alignment later increased spiritual energy in the Nine Provinces by several hundredfold 198.

Role in the Story

The Primordial World is the central arena of the Investiture of the Gods Tribulation, in which factions aligned with Hongjun support Great Zhou's campaign against Great Shang 120 137.

It becomes increasingly threatened by conflicts among powers capable of damaging or destroying it. Patriarch Bodhi explicitly warns combatants that he will intervene if they attempt to destroy the world 126.

The world also serves as the object of a wider struggle for control. Genesis Ancestor, Creation Primordial Spirit, and Ancestor of Chaos return from the Chaos Universe seeking to challenge Universe Ancestor's rule, while Hong Zun seeks to maintain the world's order and prevent the destruction of its human race 199 208.
