He unexpectedly took the initiative in the Taiyi Realm arena, openly inviting challenges from all disciples while specifically targeting the Western Sect. 175 The impending genocide of the Human Race later shook his Dao heart, forcing him to confront the limits of inaction in the face of suffering. 383

Completion of the Human Emperor Mission

Xuandu advances to the Quasi-Saint realm before Fuxi's retirement. 525 When the Dharma decree announces that Fuxi's term as Human Emperor has ended, Xuandu solemnly accepts that his own duty as Fuxi's teacher has been fulfilled. 533

He is troubled when Fuxi is sent to Fire Cloud Cave, but Yellow Dragon explains that separating Fuxi's providence from the Human Race is necessary for future Human Emperors to arise. Xuandu ultimately accepts this reasoning. 534 535

Later Human Emperors and the Heavenly Gates

As Shennong's era unfolds, Yellow Dragon gives Xuandu the Soul-Scattering Gourd. Its shared origin with Xuandu's Demon Summoning Banner and Purple-Gold Gourd makes the gift significant to his pursuit of reuniting his three corpses. 551 Xuandu and Yellow Dragon later recognize that the resonance of Shennong's advancement has brought Duobao close to a Quasi-Saint breakthrough. During Xuanyuan's struggle to become the third Human Emperor, Xuandu watches him endure the grief of the human souls imprisoned in the Witch-Slaying Sword. He approves when Xuanyuan earns their acceptance through empathy and an oath of responsibility rather than force. 610

Xuandu declares his intention to pursue world evolution as a possible route beyond the Quasi-Saint realm.
