Background

Satoru Suzuki entered society after elementary-school graduation and lived as a corporate worker before immersing himself in the DMMO-RPG YGGDRASIL. He remained with the game until its shutdown, even after most of his guildmates had stopped logging in. At the moment the servers ceased operation, he and the Great Tomb of Nazarick were transported to another world. He thereafter took the guild’s name, Ainz Ooal Gown, as his own. 270 757

Before founding Nazarick, Ainz was friends with Aya. When she left YGGDRASIL to sell her account, she gave him a final artifact-class necklace; her abrupt disappearance from his friends list became his first experience of losing a gaming companion. 1

Ainz preserved his memories of Aya after her departure. He commissioned Pandora’s Actor to create a statue from old screenshots, placed the divine-class necklace Precious Memories upon it, and instructed Albedo to treat Aya as a Supreme Being despite her never having been a guild member in his original memories. 171

Appearance

Ainz’s ordinary form is a skeletal undead mage with bare bones and gem-adorned skeletal hands. He usually presents himself in black robes as Nazarick’s Ruler of Death. 269 270

His undead passive [Forced Calmness] prevents emotional outbursts, but he finds its interruption of his memories and anxiety frustrating. 270 He is cautious by nature: after returning to the past, he deliberately follows the prior timeline as closely as possible to avoid unpredictable changes. 752 757

Nazarick’s Expansion

Ainz becomes entangled in Demiurge’s plan for world domination, despite initially treating the idea as a joke born from misunderstanding. He later seeks Aya’s advice on the responsibility and power involved in ruling the world. 388 507

Under the identity of Momon, Ainz presents himself as a powerful armored adventurer. He rescues Evileye from a demon, teleports her to safety, and defeats the attacker with overwhelming physical strength and divine-class equipment. 667 668 669

Ainz discovers that he has returned to the period shortly after Nazarick’s arrival, but in a changed timeline where Aya helped found the guild, her daughters are Guardians, and Nazarick grew into one of the game’s five strongest guilds. 748 753 754
