Background / History

The Xiao Clan was once among the Eight Ancient Clans and was described as the strongest family on the Dou Qi Continent. Its decline began when its ancestor, Xiao Xuan, extracted the clan's Dou Di bloodline in an attempt to reach the Dou Di realm. Soul Heavenly Emperor interrupted the attempt and killed Xiao Xuan, after which the Xiao Clan's ancestral territory was purged and reduced to ruins. 93

Before the clan's fall, Xiao Xuan gave the Ancient Clan access to two Heavenly Tomb slots in exchange for protecting the Xiao Clan and guiding a future Dou Zong descendant to the Heavenly Tomb. The Ancient Clan enjoyed this privilege for thousands of years but did not fulfill its obligation; the surviving Xiao Clan branch instead migrated to Wutan City in the Jia Ma Empire. 37 110

In Wutan City, the clan had deteriorated into a minor family with limited resources. Xiao Zhan led the clan as a Da Dou Shi, and its elders worried that Xiao Yan's cultivation decline would further weaken the family. 2 110

Xiao Tian's return transforms the clan's prospects. He defends its honor during Nalan Yanran's engagement annulment, destroys the Jia Lie Clan after its collaboration with the Cloud Mist Sect, and provides vast stores of medicinal pills to strengthen every branch of the family. 6 16 His later defeat of the Cloud Mist Sect and seizure of its treasure vault provide further resources for the clan's rise. 31

After Soul Hall targets the clan for the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor Jade, Xiao Tian begins preparing the family for threats beyond the Jia Ma Empire. He leaves protective clones behind, relocates the clan toward Central Province, and seeks out the Xiao Clan's lost ancestral inheritance. 38 55 69
