Background / History
Ning Yunxiao was Ning Fengzhi's thirteenth son and one of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's more outstanding younger members, surpassed within the sect only by Ning Rongrong. Unlike his father, his martial soul was the fire-attributed Red Dragon rather than the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. 22 23
Ning Fengzhi brought him to the Ye Residence as part of a proposed marriage alliance with Ye Lingling. Yunxiao opposed the prospect of marrying into the Ye Family and rudely voiced his resentment, contributing to Ye Cixin's dismissal of both father and son. 22 23
Ning Fengzhi had been prepared to allow Yunxiao to marry into the Ye Family and assume control of its estate, making the alliance part of a broader attempt to bring the family and its resources under Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect influence. 23
Afterward, Ning Fengzhi ordered Yunxiao to pursue Ye Lingling, viewing a marriage as a means to bring the Ye Family and its estate under sect influence. 23
Ning Fengzhi had also implied that Yunxiao could make “raw rice into cooked rice” to secure the marriage. Yunxiao interpreted this as approval for coercion, while Ning Fengzhi later denounced his son's public attempt at abduction as a disgrace to the sect's reputation. 56
Following his confrontation with Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan, Yunxiao was severely beaten by Xiao Wu. Rather than accept treatment for his facial injuries, he left them untreated, allowing the bruises and swelling to remain during the apology demanded by Ning Fengzhi. 55 56 58

Ning Yunxiao was described as a handsome young man. He initially presented himself with the polished manners expected of a direct-line sect heir, including offering Ye Lingling an expensive jade hairpin and displaying what he believed to be a charming smile. 54
Following his defeat by Xiao Wu, he was left bruised, bloodied, and wearing torn clothes; he later deliberately left the injuries on his face untreated for his public apology. 22 55 56
Personality
Ning Yunxiao was arrogant, entitled, and accustomed to his status as a direct descendant of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. He believed Ye Lingling should accept his advances and treated refusal as an insult. 54 56
He initially maintained a courteous façade while offering Ye Lingling a jade hairpin and inviting her to dine with him. Once both Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan rejected him, he became openly hostile, attempted to use force, and directed lewd threats at them. 54 55
Yunxiao regarded the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's influence and his father's proposed alliance as justification for his confidence. He was particularly contemptuous of the Ye Family's refusal to accept him, despite having no genuine relationship with Ye Lingling. 54
Despite being reprimanded by Ning Fengzhi, Yunxiao remained resentful and regarded his forced apology as humiliation rather than accepting responsibility. Even while kneeling before Ye Cixin and Dugu Bo, he internally continued to resent the Ye Family. 56 58

Ye Family Marriage Proposal
Ning Yunxiao accompanied Ning Fengzhi to propose a marriage alliance with Ye Lingling. His objection to marrying into the Ye Family and disrespectful conduct helped derail the negotiation. Ning Fengzhi had been willing to let him marry into the family and take charge of its estate, but Yunxiao's outburst undermined the scheme. 22 23
Harassment of Ye Lingling
Acting under Ning Fengzhi's instruction to pursue Ye Lingling, Yunxiao confronted Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan in Heaven Dou City. He offered Ye Lingling a jade hairpin, repeatedly blocked their path, and pressured her to dine with him despite her clear refusal. 54
After Dugu Yan insulted him and Ye Lingling again rejected him, Yunxiao abandoned his gentlemanly façade. He used the marriage proposal and his father's words about “cooking raw rice” to justify an attempted abduction and assault, ordering his servants to prevent the two women from escaping. 54 56
Dugu Yan delayed him but could not overcome the Red Dragon's fire advantage over her venom. Yunxiao repeatedly taunted her and moved to attack after her Soul Power was exhausted. Xiao Wu then arrived, defeated Yunxiao decisively, and prevented him from harming either woman. 54 55
Meng Chen arrived shortly afterward and threatened Yunxiao with lightning. Already injured and unable to withstand another attack, Yunxiao retreated with his servants. 55
Apology and Death
Ning Fengzhi severely reprimanded and slapped Yunxiao for publicly harassing and attempting to abduct Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan. He ordered Yunxiao to leave his injuries untreated, kneel, and apologize to Ye Cixin and Dugu Bo, intending to contain the political fallout. 56
Dugu Bo and Ye Cixin instead went directly to Seven Treasure Mountain with Meng Chen. Yunxiao was brought out bound in thorns and vines, forced to kneel, and made to recite an apology. He complied outwardly but remained openly resentful and unconvinced. 58
Dugu Bo judged his conduct deserving of punishment and released poisonous mist, killing Yunxiao instantly by melting him into a puddle of pus. 58 63
Aftermath
Yunxiao's execution escalated the confrontation between Dugu Bo and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo Chen Xin, and Bone Douluo Gu Rong ultimately failed to overcome Ye Xishui, after which the sect submitted to the Holy Spirit Cult. 60 61
Dugu Bo later informed Dugu Yan that Yunxiao had been killed and that the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect would not pursue the matter further. He also encouraged Dugu Yan to spend more time with Meng Chen, implicitly seeking to connect their families through her. 63
