Background / History

Ning Yunxiao was Ning Fengzhi's thirteenth son and one of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's more outstanding younger members, surpassed within the sect only by Ning Rongrong. Unlike his father, his martial soul was the fire-attributed Red Dragon rather than the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. 22 23

Ning Fengzhi brought him to the Ye Residence as part of a proposed marriage alliance with Ye Lingling. Yunxiao opposed the prospect of marrying into the Ye Family and rudely voiced his resentment, contributing to Ye Cixin's dismissal of both father and son. 22 23

Afterward, Ning Fengzhi ordered Yunxiao to pursue Ye Lingling, viewing a marriage as a means to bring the Ye Family and its estate under sect influence. 23

Appearance

Ning Yunxiao was described as a handsome young man. Following his defeat by Xiao Wu, he was left bruised, bloodied, and wearing torn clothes; he later deliberately left the injuries on his face untreated for his public apology. 22 55 56

Personality

Ning Yunxiao was arrogant, entitled, and accustomed to his status as a direct descendant of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. He believed Ye Lingling should accept his advances and treated refusal as an insult. 54 56

He initially maintained a courteous façade while offering Ye Lingling a jade hairpin and inviting her to dine with him. Once both Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan rejected him, he became openly hostile, attempted to use force, and directed lewd threats at them. 54 55

Despite being reprimanded by Ning Fengzhi, Yunxiao remained resentful and regarded his forced apology as humiliation rather than accepting responsibility. 56 58

Ning Yunxiao accompanied Ning Fengzhi to propose a marriage alliance with Ye Lingling. His objection to marrying into the Ye Family and disrespectful conduct helped derail the negotiation. 22 23

Harassment of Ye Lingling

Acting under Ning Fengzhi's instruction to pursue Ye Lingling, Yunxiao confronted Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan in Heaven Dou City. After his gift and invitation were rejected, he attempted to force the situation through intimidation and martial force. 54

Dugu Yan delayed him but could not overcome the Red Dragon's fire advantage over her venom. Xiao Wu then arrived, defeated Yunxiao decisively, and prevented him from harming either woman. 54 55

Apology and Death

Ning Fengzhi ordered Yunxiao to kneel and apologize to Ye Cixin and Dugu Bo, intending to contain the political fallout. Yunxiao complied outwardly but remained visibly resentful. 56 58

Dugu Bo judged his conduct deserving of punishment and released poisonous mist, killing Yunxiao instantly by melting him into a puddle of pus. 58
