Background / History

Danzo ambushed Shisui while attempting to recruit him, tore out his right Mangekyō Sharingan, and drove him to despair. Believing his death would buy time for the village and clan, Shisui entrusted his left eye to Itachi and leapt from a cliff into the Naka River. Zhengye, Inabi, and Tekka rescued him before he died. 1

Zhengye confronted Shisui with a vision of the Uchiha clan’s future extermination, arguing that Shisui’s suicide would leave Itachi vulnerable to Konoha’s influence and help enable the massacre. Overcome by guilt after witnessing the projected deaths of his clansmen, Shisui abandoned his wish to die and agreed to follow Zhengye’s efforts to save the clan. Zhengye then restored the left eye Shisui had given Itachi with a Healing Scroll. 2 3 5

Shisui joined Zhengye, Itachi, Inabi, and Tekka in confronting Fugaku and mobilizing the Uchiha against Root. During the assault on Root’s base, the clan recovered Shisui’s stolen right eye from Danzo; Izumi reimplanted it, restoring Shisui’s full vision. 7 9 12

Following Danzo’s trial, Konoha appointed Shisui an honorary elder in recognition of the harm done to him. 53

After publicly breaking with Konoha alongside Itachi, Shisui carried out black-market missions as part of Zhengye’s plan to publicize the Uchiha Mangekyō Sharingan’s strength.
