Background

Yuan Lun originated as one of the three selves condensed by Yuan Yan and housed within the divided Primordial Gourd Vine. After ten yuanhui, the three selves manifested as independent young Daoists; each retained linked thoughts with Yuan Yan while possessing a distinct temperament. Yuan Yan assigned the name Yuan Lun to the Dao body who would principally cultivate the Dao of Reincarnation. 14 15

Yuan Yan concealed the fact that Yuan Jie, Yuan Lun, and Yuan Ling were his Dao bodies from outsiders. In public, the Four Yuans presented themselves as brothers, with Yuan Yan as the eldest, Yuan Jie as the second, Yuan Lun as the third, and Yuan Ling as the fourth. 62 64

Yuan Lun climbed Mount Buzhou alongside Yuan Jie and Yuan Ling, then joined Yuan Yan in redistributing the group's discoveries according to their respective Great Daos. He received the Life-and-Death Wheel and Earth Spirit Pearl, while later obtaining the Mountain-Driving Whip during his own travels in the region of Eastern Peak Mount Tai. 19 39

He took part in the Four Yuans' lengthy campaign to cleanse the Three Clans Battlefields, repair damaged earth veins, and earn Heavenly Dao merit. During the battle against the Netherworld Serpent Ancestor, Yuan Lun used the Life-and-Death Wheel to suppress fragments of the enemy's innate indestructible true spirit. He and Yuan Ling subsequently extracted and organized the ancestor's memories. 29 34

The Four Yuans' restoration work also established their public reputation. Nearby living beings witnessed their transformation of ruined battlefields into habitable blessed lands, and gratitude and reverence spread their names throughout the Primordial World. 42

After reaching the late Great Luo realm, Yuan Lun was assigned to the Western Continent with Yuan Jie and Yuan Ling. At the Supreme Awakening Range, his Mountain-Driving Whip allowed the group to map the damaged earth veins and devise a safer method of restoration: guiding separated veins to grow and reconnect rather than forcibly relocating them. 43 44 45

Yuan Lun remained behind after Yuan Jie and Yuan Ling returned to cultivate, personally guiding the Supreme Awakening Range's earth veins for fifty to sixty thousand years. He completed the range's restoration, gained its recognition as master, established a Daoist field at its finest core spirit acupoint, and continued repairing surrounding earth veins. 45 46

The three arranged to rotate their restoration duties every five yuanhui. At the end of Yuan Lun's first shift, he shared his experiences and summoned Yuan Jie and Yuan Ling; Yuan Jie then took over the Mountain-Driving Whip. Despite the work's demands, Yuan Lun's Dao comprehension gains during that shift were comparable to two or three yuanhui of dedicated cultivation. 46

Later, he worked with Yuan Jie to deduce the Heaven-Earth Origin-Returning Formation, lending the Mountain-Driving Whip for its deployment before returning to seclusion. He eventually accompanied Yuan Yan, Yuan Jie, and Yuan Ling into the Inner Chaos and helped protect Yuan Yan, Nuwa, and Fuxi during the contest for the Purple Firmament Palace's front-row cushions. 49 64 65

During Hongjun's first lecture, Yuan Lun received the teachings on Five Qi Returning to Origin and Three Flowers Gathering at the Crown through his linked mind with Yuan Yan and the other Dao bodies. The Four Yuans thereafter used their shared insights to remedy weaknesses in their earlier cultivation and prepare for the Primordial Golden Immortal realm. 70 71

During the struggle for the Twenty-Fourth-Rank Creation Azure Lotus, Yuan Lun, Yuan Jie, and Yuan Ling used the Innate Three Powers Formation to hold off the Three Pure Ones while Yuan Yan claimed the treasure. Nuwa and Fuxi remained ready to support them against either the Three Pure Ones or the Twelve Ancestral Witches. 82

After the Mount Buzhou opportunities were settled, Nuwa and Fuxi formally joined the Four Yuans' inner circle, linking their Fortune and agreeing to share benefits and dangers. The six established a sworn-sibling relationship, with Nuwa and Fuxi addressing Yuan Lun as Third Brother. 84 93

Yuan Lun later severed his Obsession Corpse using the Treasure-Nurturing Gourd. The resulting Dao Body began at Taiyi Golden Immortal perfection and cultivated the Artifact Refining Dao, allowing Yuan Lun's line to contribute to the Yingzhou Immortal Island Lineage's production of treasures and formation materials. 111

During the Second Purple Firmament Palace lecture, Yuan Lun, Yuan Yan, Yuan Jie, Yuan Ling, and their Dao Bodies jointly refined the improved Three Corpses Severing Method. Yuan Lun eventually severed all three corpse Dao Bodies, while his recently severed Benevolent Corpse reached the Early Primordial Golden Immortal realm before the lecture ended. 133 134

Yuan Lun was a major participant in the construction of the Western Continent's Earth Vein Network and the continual improvement of the Heaven-Earth Origin-Returning Formation. The network's completion brought immense Merit and Fortune, advancing him to the Eighth Layer of the Primordial Golden Immortal realm alongside the other Three Yuans. 150 152

He also joined Yuan Yan, Yuan Jie, and Yuan Ling in mobilizing the Heaven-Earth Origin-Returning Formation to exchange the positions of the Western Continent's southern territory and the barren region containing Mount Sumeru. This operation relocated Jieyin and Zhunti's foundation away from the continent's central region. 150 194

As the Yingzhou Immortal Island Lineage expanded, Yuan Lun assumed broader responsibilities in restoring earth veins, cultivating experts, preaching the Dao, refining resources, and accumulating the lineage's Merit and Fortune. He helped improve the Heaven-Earth Origin-Returning Formation, refine Great Firmament Dao Pills and Enlightenment Pills, and instruct the lineage's Great Firmament Golden Immortals. 101 102 103

When Yuan Yan distributed the group's next major undertakings, Yuan Lun and their Three Corpse Dao Bodies assisted him in preparing a merchant association. Yuan Lun also adjusted the Heaven-Earth Origin-Returning Formation to expand restored Western territories and gradually absorb barren regions. The resulting Yingzhou Commerce Association and currency system brought the six leaders substantial enlightenment gains and increased their personal and lineage Fortune by roughly forty percent, although they did not immediately advance to a higher realm. 167 176

Yuan Lun and Yuan Yan's Obsession Corpse Dao Body later co-designed the Yin-Yang Great Dao Furnace, a specialized treasure combining artifact refinement, pill refinement, and formations. Following the furnace's eventual fusion with Treasure-Dropping Money, Yuan Ling assumed responsibility for the resulting Origin Dao Furnace, while Yuan Lun continued contributing to the lineage's cultivation and restoration projects. 168 240

After returning from the Third Purple Firmament Palace lecture, Yuan Lun participated in the group's treasure redistribution. Yuan Yan allocated him the Primordial Five Directional Banners and the Book of Life and Death, both highly compatible with the Dao of Reincarnation. 209

Yuan Yan later negotiated a thousand-Epoch loan of the Jade Disc of Creation from Hongjun and the Heavenly Dao in exchange for halting the Earth Court–Demon Clan war. He intended the treasure to accelerate the cultivation of himself, Yuan Lun, Yuan Jie, Yuan Ling, Nuwa, and Fuxi, estimating that the opportunity could save them at least two or three thousand Epochs of cultivation. 322 323

Concerned that the lineage's dominance would invite Heavenly Dao balancing measures, Yuan Yan devised a tentative future division into separate institutions after his companions attained the Dao. Under that plan, Yuan Lun would remain in the Primordial World and lead a teaching in the Boundless Starry Sky, taking advantage of his Reincarnation Dao and one corpse Dao Body's Stars Dao. Yuan Yan also envisioned him studying the Six Paths of Reincarnation and discussing the Dao with Houtu after her anticipated attainment.
