Background

Ren is a transmigrator who entered a comprehensive anime world after his body was reduced to sixteen years old. He survived his first two years through a game-like System that supplies missions, rewards, storage, teleportation anchors, and tracking functions. Rather than joining a formal faction, he became a freelance mercenary and used mission rewards to establish himself in the supernatural world. 1

The Church and Heaven treat Ren as a reliable outside contractor. Griselda suspects his inexplicable weapons, healing items, and teleportation are the effects of an unrecorded Sacred Gear, while Ren privately knows they originate from his System. Despite repeated invitations, he refuses to join the Church because he does not want its schedule, rules, or restrictions. 1 2 4

Although he initially joined the Hero Faction because of a System mission and Jeanne's invitation, Ren retained the contractual freedom to refuse unwanted assignments. He later infiltrated Cao Cao's faction during its Kyoto operation, betrayed it alongside Jeanne, and repurposed his proposed “New Hero Faction” into the Brotherhood. 7 137 147 149

Ren subsequently became involved with multiple worlds through System dungeons and World Teleportation Anchors. Ren is described as a handsome young Asian man with black hair. During the Inner Shrine battle, he wore an unfamiliar combat suit, plain glasses, and carried a silver longsword; the glasses were part of a disguise intended to conceal his identity. 5 20

His morality is flexible: he will deceive, infiltrate, steal valuable targets, and use false identities when it benefits him, but he refuses to cooperate sincerely with groups he considers terrorists and draws a distinction between hostile enemies and innocent bystanders. 15 18 31

Ren is ruthless once a fight begins, readily killing demons, rogue exorcists, vampires, fallen angels, yokai, and other hostile supernatural beings. Conversely, he shows patience toward Asia, offers Lavinia shelter after saving her, and repeatedly takes responsibility for people who have come to rely on him. His humor tends toward deadpan teasing and absurd lies, such as claiming to be Arthur Pendragon to provoke Jeanne. 5

Ren's pragmatic worldview makes him willing to infiltrate hostile groups or accept nominal affiliations for information, rewards, or strategic leverage.
