Background

Lavinia lost her parents in an accident while young. Afterward, Glinda, the Southern Witch of Oz, adopted her and later sent her to the Gray Mages organization for further study. Her Sacred Gear awakened during childhood, causing her to be ostracized in Oz Country. 17 22

When Glinda became involved in conflict among Oz's witch factions and disappeared after being attacked by the Eastern Witches of Oz, Lavinia traveled in search of her mentor. She fought Jaucusta years before the Inner Shrine incident, but Jaucusta escaped; Lavinia continued hunting the witches in pursuit of both Jaucusta and Glinda. 17 22

Several years before arriving in Kuoh Town, Lavinia encountered the younger Vali Lucifer. Noticing that he lived on cup noodles and often suffered injuries during training, she regularly took him to meals and treated his wounds. Her long search for Glinda left her intensely hostile toward the Eastern Witches of Oz. During her confrontation with Jaucusta, her hatred and desperation to locate her mentor overrode her awareness of the trap awaiting her. 17
