Background / History

Abandoned by her biological parents as an infant, Asia was found and raised by a nun in a convent. The Church became her entire world; she received its education from childhood and aspired to be as kind and gentle as the nuns who cared for her. 9

About half a year before her expulsion, a Church priest discovered that Asia had awakened the healing Sacred Gear Twilight Healing. Her ability to heal injuries and restore stamina led the Church to revere her as a saint bestowed by Heaven. 9

High-class Devil Diodora Astaroth targeted Asia because her Sacred Gear could heal demons despite its holy nature. He arranged for her to heal him and for Church members to discover the encounter, intending to ruin her reputation and claim her after her expulsion. Ren killed Diodora and rescued his abducted nuns, but the exposure of Asia's power remained. 3

Heaven's leadership expelled Asia to prevent the public from learning that a Church saintess could heal Devils, fearing the revelation would undermine the Church's faith. Griselda subsequently arranged a private commission for Ren to protect her from fallen angels pursuing her Sacred Gear. 4 8

After leaving the Church, Asia gradually builds a life among Ren's household and its diverse supernatural residents. Having spent nearly her entire life in Church institutions, she is sheltered and trusting. Ren's vague religious language convinces her to follow him after her expulsion, which she interprets as a trial and guidance from God. 9
