Chapter Summaries

Norman Osborn and President Ellis agreed to make the Community School legitimate and protect it from outside interference. After learning terrorists had seized the White House and planned a nuclear war, Ellis prepared to act as president, while Wesley struggled to get Big White into his truck.

• Agent 47 continued tracking Killian, and injured Ethan Hunt went to a hospital after completing his mission.
• Norman Osborn brought President Ellis to the school, where Old Cage warned them not to bring trouble near the students.
• Norman Osborn persuaded Ellis that the school needed legal protection and friends who would help it without relying on fear or deals.
• Ellis agreed to become the school's friend and suggested working there as a visiting professor, while Old Cage revealed that terrorists occupied the White House.
• Norman Osborn told Ellis that Alvin had warned of a terrorist plan to start a nuclear war, and Ellis prepared to resume his presidential duties.
• Wesley tried to lure Big White into his truck to help Robert, but Big White roared when Wesley attempted to force him in.

Wesley sought Big White’s help for Robert, but Fox and Shirley decided to handle the crisis themselves after learning Robert and Bob Lee Swagger were facing Super Soldiers. In a New York safe house, the congressman kept the nuclear launch codes despite President Ellis’s rescue, and armed men stormed in as Erik Bell confronted him.

• Big White pinned Wesley down and refused to leave Ginny, so Wesley explained that Robert needed help creating a diversion at a building guarded by Super Soldiers.

Erik Bell revealed McCullen’s Cobra plot to seize the Nuclear Briefcase and trigger a nuclear war, but McCullen killed him after discovering the passcode was unusable. McCullen then ordered Tungsten Rod attacks on five cities and reported that he was under attack.

• McCullen revealed himself as Cobra’s leader and explained that he planned to destroy the nuclear powers and rule the survivors with Satellite-Based Weapons.
• Erik Bell told McCullen that Cobra’s North Pole base had fallen and that the two Classified Agents were there as a safety measure.
• McCullen entered the Hard Card passcode, but the Nuclear Briefcase rejected it because the correct order was missing.
• Erik Bell attacked McCullen with a Fountain Pen, was shot by Cobra’s soldiers, and admitted he was a Classified Agent before McCullen killed him.

Bob Lee Swagger killed McCullen with a sniper shot while Robert, Wesley, Hela, and Shang-Chi fought Cobra soldiers inside the building. After the fighting ended and the nuclear briefcase was found, President Ellis arrived at the scene and declared that he belonged at the last line of defense.

Alvin’s Blizzard devastated the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, forcing Nick Fury to crash-land it on thick Arctic ice, while Zhang Qiang ordered the Gun Club to avoid Hell’s Kitchen. The group with Stark escaped the storm’s reach and continued preparing their plan, leaving them wondering whether Alvin had frozen himself underwater.

• Nick Fury ordered the Helicarrier to retreat as Alvin’s Blizzard shredded its deck, froze its systems, and damaged its engines.
• Nick Fury ordered an emergency landing, and the damaged Helicarrier crashed onto the North Pole’s ice sheet.
