Background

Xiao Meng was originally an assembly-line worker on Earth. After falling down a stairwell while reading Battle Through the Heavens, his soul transmigrated to the Dou Qi Continent. Unable to immediately possess a body, he was remade in the same womb as Xiao Yan and was born first, becoming Xiao Yan’s elder brother and the Xiao family’s third son. 1

Having read the original story several times, Xiao Meng knows major events surrounding Xiao Yan’s future. For years, he believed himself to be an untalented bystander and publicly vowed never to cultivate, intending to live comfortably once Xiao Yan became powerful. 1

His outlook changed after awakening the “Fishing the Heavens” system and beginning body cultivation through the Eternal Undying Art. He initially spent eight years concealing his strength and enduring the Xiao Clan’s contempt, eventually completing the system task connected to that period and receiving ten fishing attempts. 2 8

Appearance

Xiao Meng is introduced as a youth who appears fourteen or fifteen years old. His ordinary appearance is often overshadowed by his conspicuous collection of Earth-derived tools and weapons. 1

  • Uses black cloth to conceal his face during some operations. 4 41

He is also theatrical, arrogant, and prone to provoking others for system rewards or personal amusement. He presents himself as the “true protagonist,” enjoys intimidating opponents, and frequently conceals his real capabilities until a dramatic reveal is advantageous. 4 8 15

Despite his hostility toward Xiao Yan and resentment over Xiao Xun’er, Xiao Meng repeatedly protects the Xiao Clan and gives Xiao Yan crucial guidance. He is deeply alarmed when his father and clan are injured, and he takes an active role in countering the Gale Clan’s threats. 17 37 39
