History

Early crisis

The Chen Clan began as a small cultivation lineage centered on Qingyuan Peak in Yu Commandery. It had more than one hundred cultivators, a Foundation Establishment patriarch, and a Tier 2 Mid-grade spirit vein, but relied heavily on a limited number of elders to protect its people, industries, and outposts 1.

A failed Foundation Establishment attempt by Sixth Elder Chen Qingmeng left the Lineage burdened by an 8,000-Spirit-Stone debt. Its cultivators collectively funded repayment: middle- and early-stage Qi Refining members were assessed contributions, while elders undertook artifact-refining, herb-transplanting, and alchemy work. Clan stipends were temporarily withheld 3 4.

The preservation of the clan’s mortal population was treated as an existential duty. Chen Changqing warned Chen Nianzhi that if the Lineage failed, the hundreds of thousands of Chen mortals in Peaceful Sun County would be exposed to demonic cultivators and demon beasts 4.

Consolidation and expansion

Chen Nianzhi’s rise strengthened the Lineage’s leadership. After achieving Self-Foundation Establishment, he was entrusted with authority over Foundation Establishment Pill allocation, and he prioritized merit and long service in distributing the scarce resource 58.

The clan’s cultivation population expanded rapidly after restrictions on childbirth were eased. Within ten years, its mortal population produced more than two hundred thousand newborns, and the Lineage began gaining roughly twenty cultivators annually—about ten times its former rate 100.

By the time of the year-end review, the Lineage supported more than five hundred Qi Refining cultivators and multiple Foundation Establishment cultivators. Its annual income had once been about 9,000 Spirit Stones, while wages alone exceeded 8,000 Spirit Stones 195. It later maintained roughly two thousand low-level cultivators, whose labor supported spirit fields, resource collection, commerce, pill and artifact refinement, and the defense of spirit veins 230.

Rise into an immortal clan

The Spirit Peach Tree became a decisive foundation for the Chen Clan. Its nourishment accelerated Chen Changxuan’s cultivation and helped elevate the clan’s long-term prospects beyond those of an ordinary Purple Mansion family 293.

The Lineage eventually gathered cultivation arts for all five elemental paths through the Purple Mansion realm, including the Sunfire Scripture, Azure Wood True Flame Art, Blazing Sun Soaring Void Art, Bright Abyss Dao-Grace Art, and Ji-Earth Earth Sovereign Art 196.

Following its growth into a Nascent Soul power, the clan continued to develop as the Chen Immortal Clan. It later possessed major Heaven-and-Earth Spirit Roots, including the Spirit Peach Tree, Eight Trigrams Treasure Tree, Creation Azure Jade Lotus, and Enlightenment Tea Tree 1009.

Governance and Inheritance

Elder system

In its early period, the Lineage was governed by a patriarch and seven Qing-generation elders, all Ninth Layer Qi Refining cultivators. Their responsibilities were distributed across vital locations and functions 1.

• First Elder Chen Qingxu — guarded Pingyang County Town, whose mortal population supplied new cultivator seeds to the clan 1.
• Second Elder Chen Qinghe — managed the Lineage’s businesses in Yuyang Market 1.
• Third Elder Chen Qinghao — presided over clan meetings and handled major internal affairs, including financial reports and regulations 1 195.
• Chen Changxuan — the Old Clan Leader; directed the clan through successive wars, formation construction, artifact refinement, and major breakthroughs 46 89.
• Chen Nianzhi — later acted as Chen Clan Head and personally distributed high-level inheritances and cultivation resources 787.

Generational system

The Chen Clan preserved a sixteen-character genealogical sequence centered on pursuing the Dao, honoring ancestors, supporting one another, strengthening the clan, and attaining enduring immortality 1 706.

As the clan’s population became too large for direct blood seniority to remain practical, generation titles were increasingly assigned by cultivation level:

The Lineage’s first iron law

Chen Nianzhi established a permanent rule giving greater rewards, attention, and future breakthrough opportunities to cultivators who achieved Self-Foundation Establishment. He ordered it entered into both the clan regulations and genealogy, declaring that even future clan chiefs could not alter it 194.

The policy was intended to reward cultivators who risked life and death to establish their foundations without relying on Foundation Establishment Pills. It also encouraged members to develop the resolve needed for later Purple Mansion breakthroughs 194.

Territories and Foundations

• Qingyuan Mountain — early ancestral base on Qingyuan Peak, supported by a Tier 2 Mid-grade spirit vein 1.
• Peaceful Sun City — a vital population center whose security determines the Lineage’s ability to raise mortals and cultivate future generations 230.
