Background
Zhang Yang began as a disciple of Azure Cloud Master. Recognizing that the Azure Cloud Sect lacked cultivation resources, he persuaded his master and the elders to let him reform the sect. Azure Cloud Master entered half-year seclusion, entrusted Zhang Yang with the Sect Master Token, and allowed him to take charge of the sect's financial records and development. 2
As an early Golden Core cultivator, Zhang Yang possessed spiritual power far exceeding that of ordinary cultivators at his realm. He consumed more than ten million Spirit Stones and numerous pills without reaching the Nascent Soul Realm, but the process left him able to sustain Spirit Artifacts and cast Dao arts with exceptional speed and force. 103
His Chaos Golden Core became a central mystery of his cultivation. Azure Cloud Master considered it unusual enough to test against a Demon Fetus, while later figures identified Zhang Yang as possessing a Chaos Body capable of accommodating Immortal, Ghost, Demon, and Monster arts. 78 654 666
Personality
Zhang Yang is direct, ambitious, and highly pragmatic. He treats cultivation resources as tools to be acquired, distributed, and used rather than treasures to be hoarded; this approach drives both his sect reforms and his efforts to develop Azure Cloud City. 2 363 469
He is also ruthless toward enemies. After capturing twelve Golden Core attackers from the Myriad Spirits Sect, he executed four who had signed life-and-death waivers and warned the survivors never to forget his name. 80
Despite this severity, Zhang Yang consistently invests in people with potential. He distributes manuals and Spirit Stones to nearby villages, trains Azure Cloud Sect disciples, protects promising cultivators, and tailors guidance to each disciple's individual path. 103 498 1133 1310
