Background / History

The Immortal Realm was originally established by the Myriad Laws Immortal Emperor and developed into the central realm of Immortal Dao cultivation. Its vast territory contains major Immortal Emperor, Immortal King, True Immortal, dependent, and independent factions. Even a single Immortal King lineage controls territory larger than Azure Cloud Continent. 607 779

Its connection to the Lower Realm became a major source of instability when the Immortal Gate opened. Zhou Xuansheng was forced toward ascension after his defeat, while an Immortal King later descended and suppressed the Demon Lords. More than a dozen True Immortals and over a hundred young cultivators subsequently passed through the gate into the Lower Realm. 595 596

The realm's internal balance deteriorated as Immortal Kings competed over Lower Realm opportunities, the Immortal Hall manuals, Dao Origin Stones, and the World-Opener's authority. Qitian Immortal Emperor ordered Immortal Kings not to interfere in Lower Realm affairs for one hundred years, but the order intensified suspicion and factional maneuvering. 739 758

The emergence of the Divine Dao introduced the Investiture of the Gods as a means for cultivators whose lifespans had run out to retain their combat strength and potentially continue advancing. The Immortal Realm suffered catastrophic damage when nearly forty Otherworld Emperor Dao Realm experts breached its world barrier. Dao Origin Stones

Dao Origin Stones were regarded as indispensable for advancing from True Immortal to Immortal King, causing fierce competition among Immortal Realm cultivators. Zhang Yang later explained that they are a shortcut rather than an absolute necessity: an Immortal King can form a personal Dao Realm, comprehend its Will, and develop Immortal King Will through another path. 607 1013

Immortal Gate
