Background / History

Chen Xi learns that Life Foundation’s returning spacecraft is carrying several Symbiotes and decides to seize them for use as a Superman-style battle suit. He has Red Queen monitor the company and travels to Malaysia when the ship is expected to crash. 10 11

Life One crashes in the Borneo Forest Reserve near Sibu, killing its expedition crew. Rescue personnel recover three containers holding writhing organisms, while a fourth Symbiote escapes and temporarily possesses a wild chicken. Chen Xi arrives, eliminates Drake’s mercenaries, and frees the captured Symbiotes. 12

Rather than selecting a specimen directly, Chen Xi forces the four into a lethal contest so that the winner will absorb the others’ traits. Riot is killed first; Phage and Scream later consume Venom, then fight their final duel. Chen Xi interferes with darkness and fire, enabling Scream to consume Phage and become the sole survivor. 12 13

Scream immediately tries to bond with Chen Xi, believing his extraordinary vitality belongs to a Celestial-like being. Chen Xi instead uses the solar energy stored in his Kryptonian cells to erase Scream’s consciousness, then pays the System to process its remnants into genetic fragments. The resulting four-Symbiote fusion becomes his mind-controlled Symbiote Suit. 13

Appearance

Before integration, the Symbiotes are writhing, mud-like organisms that attack with tendrils and can envelop a host. Scream appears as a black-purple shadow while attempting to cover Chen Xi. 12 13

As Chen Xi’s suit, the Symbiote forms a black gel-like coating with a dark sheen.

Behavior

The Symbiotes are driven by parasitic instinct, competition, and the urge to claim powerful hosts. Chen Xi’s vitality overwhelms their restraint; they compare it to a young star and become desperate to parasitize him. 12

Scream becomes deliriously arrogant after becoming the final survivor, declaring itself a new god of the Symbiotes before attempting to seize Chen Xi as a host. Its consciousness is subsequently erased, leaving the completed suit under Chen Xi’s direct command rather than an independent will. 13

Chen Xi targets the returning Life Foundation ship to acquire a suitable battle suit, then forces the four recovered Symbiotes into a survival contest in Borneo. The contest ends with Scream’s defeat and the creation of the Symbiote Suit. 10 12 13

Wakanda Confrontation

Chen Xi tests the suit’s weapon-shaping ability during his confrontation with Wakandan guards, forming a shield and hammer from his arms. The armor’s four-Symbiote fusion is later described as beyond the reach of Vibranium weaponry. 14 15

Statue of Liberty Massacre

During Magneto’s operation at the Statue of Liberty, Chen Xi adopts his Symbiote form to intercept retreating S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. He uses a formed blade and extreme speed to kill the agents, presenting the violence as the work of the “Symbiote” while casting himself as their savior. 62
