Background / History
Yin Ming captured Red Nose while he was still a red-nosed macaque in the Magic Beast Forest. Seeking a controllable test subject rather than a human follower, Yin Ming force-fed him a Quasit Bloodline Potion 18.
The transformation was rapid and agonizing. Red Nose lost most of his fur, developed dark rough skin, fangs, crimson eyes, and an upright Quasit body, but retained the red nose that later became his name. Upon awakening, he attacked Yin Ming and attempted to escape with corrosive black smoke, only to be recaptured 19.
After discovering that Red Nose could speak human language and had inherited Quasit memories, Yin Ming forced him to surrender a wisp of his soul. The soul fragment was sealed in a Soulstone, binding Red Nose as Yin Ming’s servant 19 20. Yin Ming then named him “Red Nose” after the sole obvious feature remaining from his macaque body 20.
For seven or eight days, Red Nose was compelled to teach Yin Ming Demon Tongue and recite knowledge from Quasit inheritance, including Abyssal codices and rune knowledge. The workload left him severely exhausted, but Yin Ming eventually released him into the Abyss through an Abyssal Sacrifice Rune, promising to return his Soulstone in exchange for 10,000 Soul Crystals 20 21.
In the Abyss, Red Nose became an overseer at a Soul Crystal mine while remaining bound by his Soulstone. He attempted to betray his demon lord to a neighboring succubus in return for Soul Crystals, but was intercepted by Demon Bloodlines before completing the offer 46. Within three months, he gathered the required 10,000 Soul Crystals and was summoned back by Yin Ming, only to learn that Abyssal Summoning could not transport Soul Crystals out of the Abyss 48.
When Yin Ming proposed harvesting Soul Crystals through an assembly-line scheme involving captured and killed demons, Red Nose revealed the Beck Subplane instead: a neutral Abyss-owned trade plane where all races could exchange goods without violence. He provided an invitation and arranged a meeting there on the next new-moon night 49.
Appearance
Red Nose resembles a juvenile Quasit rather than the macaque he once was. His transformation preserved his distinctive red nose.
- Dark, wrinkled skin described as rough as stone 19
- Large crimson eyes and a mouthful of sharp fangs 19
- Fully upright posture after his skeletal structure was remade 19
- Retains his original red nose, the source of his name 19 20
- Later wears a black jacket, white shirt, and azure bow tie, but no proper trousers due to his unusual lower-body structure 48
Personality
Red Nose initially behaves like a frightened wild animal, attacking Yin Ming immediately after gaining power and attempting to flee when subdued. His inherited Quasit instincts make him cowardly, survival-oriented, and quick to submit when faced with overwhelming force 19.
Although inexperienced at first, he gradually becomes more resourceful in the Abyss. He learns to navigate demonic exploitation, manages a Soul Crystal mine, and considers betraying his lord for a better arrangement. His fear of Yin Ming remains especially pronounced; Yin Ming’s proposed methods of extracting Soul Crystals horrify him more than ordinary Abyssal cruelty 46 49.
Abilities & Skills
Quasit Bloodline
Red Nose possesses an artificially fused Abyssal Quasit bloodline.
- Has intelligence comparable to a human child shortly after transforming 19
- Possesses inherited Abyssal memories and Demon Tongue 19 20
- Has physical qualities exceeding those of a low-level Magic Beast 19
- Can potentially grow into a First-Ring Quasit, though juvenile Quasits require time and Abyssal resources to mature 19 21
- Cannot properly develop in the Material World; Abyssal aura, Soul Crystals, or certain souls are needed for bloodline growth 21
Corrosive Smoke
Red Nose can expel black smoke capable of corroding elemental-energy constructs.
- Burned a hole through Yin Ming’s Wizard’s Hand during his attempted escape 19
- Functions as an emergency escape technique rather than a reliable means of defeating stronger opponents 19
Abyssal Runes
Red Nose inherited several demonic runes.
- Soul Rune — used to offer a soul fragment and form a Soulstone bond with a master 19 20
- Abyssal Sacrifice Rune — can return a demon to the Abyss through self-sacrifice 20 21
- Abyssal Summoning Rune — summons Abyssal demons through a suitable medium, though an uncontrolled summoned demon may attack the summoner 20
- Incomplete True Name Rune — a bloodline rune whose full form remains concealed until further growth 20
Equipment / Items
- Soulstone — contains Red Nose’s soul fragment and remains in Yin Ming’s possession, allowing Yin Ming to compel him 19 20.
- Broken teeth — left behind after Yin Ming struck him; later used as a summoning medium 19 20.
- Beck Subplane invitation — a metal sphere Red Nose provided to enable trade in the neutral Beck Subplane 49.
Relationships
- Yin Ming — creator and master. Yin Ming transformed Red Nose with a Bloodline Potion, forced him into a Soulstone contract, extracted his inherited knowledge, and later released him to gather Soul Crystals in the Abyss 18 21 48 49.
- Monkey Quasits — fellow artificially created Quasits sent into the Abyss under Yin Ming’s Soulstone-based redemption scheme. Red Nose’s experiences and intelligence distinguish him from most of the newly created demons 44 46 49.
- Red Eighteen — another Monkey Quasit summoned by Yin Ming to verify the Beck Subplane’s existence after Red Nose revealed it 49.
Notable Quotes
“This lowly one is only a Quasit, one of the lowest demons in the Abyss. I pose no threat to you, Lord Wizard.” 19
“Wizard, that won’t be necessary...” 49
Trivia
- Red Nose’s name was chosen solely because his red nose remained after the Quasit transformation 20.
- He later recognizes that he could have faked his Soulstone offering, but only after Yin Ming had already accepted the genuine soul fragment 20.
- Red Nose regards Yin Ming as more frightening than many Abyssal demons, particularly after hearing Yin Ming’s proposed Soul Crystal extraction methods 21 49.
