Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Initial-form Quasit Bloodline | 14 16 | The weakest parasitic descendant form. It inhabits human hosts, collects murder-born chaotic souls, and may influence the host without its knowledge. |
| Juvenile Abyssal Quasit | 18 19 | A creature completely transformed through Quasit blood gains a demonic body, inherited Abyssal knowledge, Demon Tongue, and the capacity to offer a Soulstone. |
| Rank 0 Quasit King Youngling | 43 44 46 | Yin Ming's refined potions created 962 artificial Quasit King younglings. They were deployed to the Abyss as Zero-Ring demons. |
| First-Ring Demonic Beast | 14 16 21 | A mature Quasit is a First-Ring creature comparable to a formal wizard. Juveniles require Abyss-tainted nourishment, Soul Crystals, or specific souls to grow to this stage. |
Background
Quasits are low-level demons native to the Abyss. “Low-level” is a classification rather than an insult: any creature recognized as a demon is still a powerful extraordinary being. A full Quasit is a First-Ring Demonic Beast, though it is notably less suited to direct combat than many creatures of the same rank 14 16.
They are naturally suspicious and cowardly, preferring darkness, concealment, and escape over open confrontation. Quasits ordinarily do not remain in the Material World for long; their presence there usually involves parasitic bloodline descendants or orders from a stronger demon 15 16 23.
In Golden Lion County, Quasit Bloodlines infested manor stewards to drive them toward murder. The resulting chaotic souls were harvested for Quasit consumption after the victims' hatred had been “processed” away 14 16.
Appearance
A typical Abyssal Quasit is a short, gray-skinned humanoid demon, roughly 1.4–1.5 meters tall from a human perspective 14.
- Broad ears with sparse tufts of hair at their tips.
- Large eyes, often depicted as crimson in artificial Quasit descendants.
- Long, thin limbs and slightly forward-bending knees.
- A mouthful of sharp fangs and clawed hands.
- Rough, stone-like skin rather than fur 14 19 44.
- Artificial Monkey Quasits retain traits from their original primate bodies, such as Red Nose's conspicuous red nose or colored ear-fur 19 46.
Personality
Quasits are defined by survival instinct. They hide from danger, avoid fair fights, and readily submit when faced with overwhelming force. Their cowardice is practical rather than passive: a Quasit will deceive, flee, bargain, or surrender its Soulstone if those choices offer a chance to live 14 19.
Artificially created Monkey Quasits initially lacked the experience expected of Abyss-born demons. After Yin Ming's coercive training, many adopted calculated, self-destructive bargaining tactics, treating their own Soulstones and lives as negotiating tools in the Abyss 45 46.
Abilities & Skills
Demonic Physiology
Quasits possess extraordinary bodies and long lifespans, though their physical combat ability is poor for First-Ring creatures.
- A Quasit's lifespan is approximately ten times that of a human 18.
- Full Quasits possess the potential to become First-Ring Demonic Beasts 18 21.
- Juveniles cannot properly grow on Material World food alone; they require Abyssal aura, Soul Crystals, or specific souls 21.
- Their inherited knowledge allows even newly transformed Quasits to speak human languages and Demon Tongue 19 20.
Parasitic Bloodline Control
Quasit descendants can inhabit humans and distort their behavior from within.
- Initial-form bloodlines parasitize hosts and collect souls from murder victims 14.
- Their influence can mislead perception, manipulate emotion, twist a host's will, and drive murder without obvious supernatural traces 16.
- Bloodline descendants generally flee after the host dies, while evolved variants can continue using the corpse 23.
Bloodline Evolution
A Quasit Bloodline can develop into specialized forms after gaining the true blood of its source.
- Giant Husk — enlarges and strengthens a host corpse for direct combat 23.
- Armorbound — forms black armor around the host body; the armor is highly durable but was penetrated by enhanced musket fire 23.
- Heart-Eater Worm — listed as a potential advanced bloodline derived from an initial Quasit Bloodline 16.
- Quasit King Youngling — an artificial lineage created through Yin Ming's high-mutation bloodline potions 43 44.
Soulstones and Abyssal Runes
Quasits can split off a wisp of their souls and bind it into a stone as proof of submission.
- A Soulstone grants its holder overwhelming leverage over the Quasit that created it 19 45.
- A demon cannot offer its soul twice, making a held Soulstone protection against another master's claim 45.
- Red Nose retained the Abyssal Sacrifice Rune, Abyssal Summoning Rune, and an incomplete True Name Rune through Quasit inheritance 20.
- Soul Crystals are a primary Abyssal resource used for growth and are demanded as payment for Soulstone redemption 21 44.
Abyssal Mist
Jeroffi, a First-Ring Quasit, demonstrated a powerful corrosive mist in battle.
- The mist rapidly corroded stone, steel, vegetation, corpses, and other material it touched 23.
- It extinguished incendiary flames and weakened the blast of an Alchemical Bomb 23.
- The technique was ultimately dispersed by explosives, allowing musket fire to kill Jeroffi 23.
Relationships
- Yin Ming — Created Red Nose through a Quasit Bloodline Potion, forced him into Soulstone servitude, then released him to the Abyss in exchange for future Soul Crystals 18 19 21.
- Red Nose — A red-nosed macaque transformed into an artificial juvenile Quasit; later became Yin Ming's intermediary for dealings with the Monkey Quasits and the Beck Subplane 19 48 49.
- Jeroffi — A First-Ring Quasit and the bloodline source of the parasite formerly inhabiting Jeroen Hoven; killed by Johnny Green's forces at Golden Lion Castle 23.
- Abyssal Will — Bestows demonic inherited memories and retains primary ownership over the Monkey Quasit ancestral blood-source rune 20 45 47.
- Monkey Quasits — 962 artificial Quasit King younglings created from captured primates. Their collective true blood condensed into a secondary Bloodline Origin Crystal 44 45.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Golden Lion County Infestation
Quasit Bloodline descendants secretly parasitized the stewards of Golden Lion County's manors. Their hosts became increasingly cruel and murder-driven, generating the chaotic souls that Quasits required 14 16.
After the destruction of Golden Lion Castle, several evolved Quasit Bloodlines emerged from dead hosts. Jeroffi then revealed itself beneath the castle, defended the demon altar with Abyssal Mist, and died under concentrated musket and Alchemical Bomb fire 23.
Red Nose Experiment
Yin Ming used a Quasit Bloodline Potion on a red-nosed macaque, producing Red Nose, an intelligent juvenile Quasit with inherited Abyssal knowledge. Following Red Nose's failed escape attempt, Yin Ming compelled it to offer a Soulstone and used it as a source of Demon Tongue and Abyssal lore 18 19 20.
Yin Ming later sent Red Nose back to the Abyss, demanding 10,000 Soul Crystals to redeem its Soulstone. Red Nose eventually gathered the required amount, but discovered that Soul Crystals could not be exported through Abyssal Summoning because the Abyssal Will considers them strategic resources 21 48.
Monkey Quasit Army
Yin Ming purchased enough Quasit true blood to manufacture 1,000 Rank 1 Bloodline Potions. He captured primates from the Magic Beast Forest and transformed them into Quasit King younglings 43 44.
Of the thousand potions used, eight subjects died during transformation and thirty refused to surrender their Soulstones, leaving 962 controlled Quasits. Yin Ming sent them into the Abyss to gather Soul Crystals, presenting their eventual freedom as a transaction rather than permanent slavery 44 46.
Bloodline Origin and False Dretch Ancestor
The Monkey Quasits collectively offered their True Name Imprints to the Abyssal Will and condensed a secondary Bloodline Origin Crystal. The crystal linked the 962 Quasits through shared bloodline threads and served as a safeguard against Yin Ming breaking his promise 45.
Yin Ming later used the Bloodline Origin to forge the False Dretch Ancestor External Core. Its Monkey Quasit Dharma Aspect connects directly to the surviving Quasit bloodline threads and has the potential to surpass its First-Ring limit if the artificial lineage continues expanding 47.
Trivia
- Quasits are described as “the shame of First-Ring creatures” because their instinct for survival makes them unusually poor at open combat 23.
- A Quasit Bloodline host may never realize it has been parasitized; Jeroen Hoven died without understanding the source of his murderous impulses 16.
- The 962 Monkey Quasits formed a new, unstable branch of the Quasit race rather than a true independent racial bloodline 45.
- Despite their typical cowardice, Monkey Quasits trained by Yin Ming began demanding Soul Crystals from stronger demons before surrendering their Soulstones 46.
