Background and history

Corpse Liberation and displacement

Yin Ming cultivated the Corpse Liberation path after conventional Qi Refining and Golden Core methods became ineffective in the Age of Dharma Decline. He reached immortality after roughly twenty years of cultivation, but his path granted an immortal Dao Fruit rather than conventional magical power or overwhelming physical strength. 1 10

Shortly after ascending, he was caught in Viscount Orson's sacrificial ritual and mistaken for an “evil god.” There he encountered Zhu Bajie's avatar, identified the mistranslated names behind the ritual, and sought passage to the Immortal Realm. Zhu Bajie refused to accept him as a disciple, but gave him a Minor Teleportation Talisman, the Primordial God-Devil Forging Art, and a wisp of the law of “Purity” in exchange for a future copy of the world's wizard cultivation method. 3

When three seven-circle wizards besieged the town, Yin Ming recognized that his immortal realm did not make him combat-capable. Zhu Bajie's avatar destroyed the barrier at the cost of its remaining power, allowing Yin Ming to use the talisman and teleport roughly a thousand li away. 4 5

Enslavement at Tulip Manor

After escaping, Yin Ming was drugged by an elderly slave-catching couple, sold to Old John, then resold through Green Forest City's slave market. He was ultimately sent to Tulip Manor in Count Golden Lion's territory, where he lived under the alias Eno. 5 6

While outwardly enduring serf labor and steward Jeroen Hoven's brutality, Yin Ming secretly used Spirit Travel to attend Professor Romandy's lessons and master Wizard Script. He then entered Count Golden Lion's vault, obtained the Vast Sea Meditation Method from a snakeskin inheritance, and decided to rebuild his strength through wizard cultivation. 7

He sacrificed his remaining immortal cultivation to forge the jade-green Corpse-Liberation Gourd into the Innate Spiritual Treasure known as the Scavenger Gourd. The artifact immediately solved his starvation problem by extracting edible Food Essence from black bread and weeds. 8 9

Wizard cultivation and demonic research

Yin Ming enhanced his body through the Scavenger Gourd, purging toxins and hidden injuries before increasing his neural utilization at significant lifespan cost. He then formed his first Mental Rune and became a Junior Wizard Apprentice. 11

After Jeroen Hoven pursued him into the Magic Beast Forest, Yin Ming killed the Low Knight instantly with Wizard's Hand. The black parasite that emerged from Hoven's remains revealed the Quasit bloodline network embedded among the manor's stewards. 13 14

Yin Ming later created a Bloodline Potion from Quasit blood and tested it on a red-nosed macaque. The transformed creature, Red Nose, became an intelligent Quasit; Yin Ming subdued it and forced it to offer a soul fragment as proof of servitude. 18 19

Flame-Burners Association

Following the collapse of the Adams Lineage's territory, Yin Ming left Tulip Manor, aided Randy's escape from serfdom, and saved the wounded Johnny Green in order to study his firearms and alchemical equipment. 25 26

Johnny introduced him to the Flame-Burners Association. Yin Ming initially rejected its ruin-exploration work due to its casualty rate, but joined when he learned it possessed a detailed explanation of basic wizard runes. 28

Using Wizard Script, Demon Tongue, and Immortal Seal Script presented as an unknown lost-civilization language, Yin Ming passed the Association's scholar examination. He became the 3,642nd scholar of the Ember school and received treatment equivalent to a First-Ring wizard. 30

External cores and later activity

Yin Ming used the External Elixir Art to create metal Primordial Elixirs connected to fragments of his soul. These External Cores allowed him to carry bloodline-based Dharma Forms without surrendering his human body to permanent bloodline erosion. 34 36

He subsequently developed the Lava Troll Form, entered the Nightmare World, and gained Zero-Ring Authority after killing the Void Spirit Xu Jiu. 36 40

By the time he created the Monkey Quasit/Dretch Ancestor Aspect, Yin Ming had condensed four of the Seventy-Two Forms. He remained wary of the Quasit aspect's self-derived rune and its partial connection to the Abyssal Will. 47

On a New Moon Night, Yin Ming used an Abyss Beck Subplane Invitation—after secretly exchanging it with Anthony Silvercoin's identical sphere—and entered the Beck Subplane under layered physical, magical, and masked disguises. 50

Personality

Yin Ming is intensely pragmatic and survival-focused. He avoids direct risks whenever possible, preferring concealment, preparation, escape routes, and overwhelming force to fair fights. He considers avoidable danger foolish rather than courageous, a principle reflected in his refusal to join high-casualty expeditions or expose himself to powerful wizards unnecessarily. 28 41

He approaches cultivation as research. His willingness to burn lifespan for insight, dismantle supernatural materials, manipulate bloodlines, and experiment on Red Nose reflects an analytical mindset with few ethical restraints when power or knowledge is at stake. 18 19 32 33

Despite his utilitarian habits, Yin Ming maintains selected personal loyalties. He treated Randy's injuries, helped him escape serfdom with money and supplies, and declined to punish Jack after Jack traded Yin Ming's hemostatic-powder knowledge for an Apprentice Knight position. 10 16 25

Abilities & skills

Corpse Liberation techniques

Before sacrificing his cultivation, Yin Ming possessed the immortal Dao Fruit of a Corpse-Liberation Immortal.

  • Could send his Primordial Spirit out through the Corpse-Liberation Gourd for Spirit Travel, reconnaissance, and eavesdropping. 1 5 7
  • Had night vision from the Void Lightning Realm and spiritual sense from the Yin Spirit and Yang Spirit stages. 1
  • His former immortal state was severely limited in direct combat; he could not break ordinary hemp restraints or withstand massed knights. 1
  • Burned his accumulated cultivation as fuel for the Scavenger Gourd's forging. 8 9

Scavenger Gourd

The Scavenger Gourd is Yin Ming's Innate Spiritual Treasure, forged from his former Corpse-Liberation Artifact. It possesses one complete Divine Restriction and is a support treasure rather than a combat weapon. 9

  • Analyzes, decomposes, purifies, extracts, and recombines materials to maximize their usable value. 9 14
  • Converts food and plant matter into Grain-Repelling Pills, hemostatic powder, poisons, and other extracted products. 9 10
  • Purged toxins and hidden injuries from Yin Ming's body, raising his natural lifespan limit from 45 to 99 years. 11
  • Can enhance bodily functions, including neural utilization, but does not protect its user from the resulting energy consumption or lifespan loss. 11
  • Extracted Mental Essence, inheritance memories, bloodline materials, and unknown energy from the Quasit parasite core. 14
  • Produces Element Crystals from ambient elemental energy once Yin Ming's spiritual power exceeds the required threshold. 26
  • Cannot store objects containing self-will, including soulstones and certain blood-source materials. 20 47

Wizard cultivation and spells

Yin Ming cultivates through the Vast Sea Meditation Method, using Mental Runes to transform elemental energy into magic power. He is a Junior Wizard Apprentice at Mirror Reef, Second Layer. 21 47

  • Wizard's Hand — Creates an invisible telekinetic hand. Its early recorded grip strength was approximately 3,000 kg at a 12-meter range for roughly 15 seconds; after further rune development, its upper strength limit reached 8,000 kg. 12 25
  • Flesh Strengthening — Permanently improves Yin Ming's physique until reaching its current bottleneck; its first use raised his physique by three points. 15
  • Crimson Flame Ring — Generates crimson flame and can melt precious metals into unmarked currency. 21 25
  • Shadow Touch and Touch of Corrosion — Zero-Ring wizardries obtained by devouring Nightmare World memories. 41
  • Abyssal Summoning and Abyssal Sacrifice — Demonic runes learned through Red Nose's inherited knowledge; Yin Ming used them to send Red Nose back to the Abyss and later summon him. 20 21 48

Seventy-Two Forms and External Cores

Yin Ming adapted the Eight-Nine Mystical Art into the wizard-compatible Seventy-Two Forms. The art uses External Cores and bloodline potions to manifest Dharma Aspects while insulating his human body from bloodline corruption. 32 33 34

  • Lava Troll Form — His first Dharma Form; created through a Lava Troll King Potion and a First-Ring True Name Rune. It has lava armor, extreme heat, and strength comparable to a First-Ring sorcerer. 36
  • Twisted Treant and Winged Serpent — Existing Dharma Aspects with Second-Ring potential, though Yin Ming lacks their Second-Ring True Name Totems. 47
  • Monkey Quasit / False Dretch Ancestor Aspect — His fourth Dharma Aspect. It permits a possession-like shared consciousness and vision, and contains a hidden ancestral rune partly tied to the Abyssal Will. 47
  • The Seventy-Two Forms currently stands at four completed forms out of seventy-two, with a recorded Second-Ring limit. 47

Nightmare World Authority

Yin Ming holds Zero-Ring Authority in the Nightmare World after killing the Void Spirit Xu Jiu. 40

  • Can access the Zero-Ring region and perceive nearby Crystal Wall Bubbles belonging to wizard apprentices. 41
  • Uses the dreamscape's conditions to test manifested weapons and large-scale constructs without bringing them into reality. 41
  • Obtains memories and extraordinary knowledge from defeated targets, including a First-Ring meditation method and magical-plant cultivation knowledge. 40 41
  • The permanent Nightmare Rune cost seven points of spiritual power, reducing his maximum capacity from 25 to 21 at the time it formed. 40

Scholarship, languages, and potioncraft

Yin Ming combines scholarly knowledge, modern experimental thinking, and the Scavenger Gourd's analysis capabilities.

  • Mastered Wizard Script by secretly attending Professor Romandy's lessons and Demon Tongue through Red Nose's inheritance. 7 20
  • Used Immortal Seal Script to qualify as a Flame-Burners scholar. 30
  • Developed and sold Golden Sore Medicine, a low-cost healing product whose formula's use of mold-based ingredients attracted powerful buyers. 33 37 42
  • Created and optimized Bloodline Potions, including Quasit, Lava Troll, and Lava Demon variants. 18 36 42
  • Studies rune construction as spell formulas linked by energy circuits, aiming to unify immortal cultivation and wizardry. 32 33

Equipment / weapons / items

  • Scavenger Gourd — Innate Spiritual Treasure and Yin Ming's primary research, storage, purification, and synthesis tool. 9 11
  • Purity Law Fragment — A wisp of Zhu Bajie's law of “Purity,” received as part of their transaction. 3
  • External Cores — Metal Primordial Elixirs spiritually refined into vessels for Dharma Aspects. 34 36
  • Element Crystals — Condensed ambient elemental energy used for trade, mana recovery, potion work, and experimental weapons. 26 31
  • Revolver — Listed among Yin Ming's possessions while residing in the Flame-Burners underground city. 37 47
  • Soulstones and Quasit tokens — Used to bind, summon, and negotiate with Red Nose and the Monkey Quasits. 19 20 48
  • Abyss Beck Subplane Invitation — A metal sphere activated on the New Moon to transport its bearer to the Beck Subplane. 50

Relationships

  • Zhu Bajie / Envoy of the Purified Altar — Benefactor and contractual partner. Zhu Bajie's avatar gave Yin Ming the Minor Teleportation Talisman, Primordial God-Devil Forging Art, and Purity Law Fragment, then sacrificed its remaining power to create Yin Ming's escape opportunity. 3 4
  • Randy — Former Tulip Manor roommate and one of Yin Ming's few genuine friends. Yin Ming treated Randy's wounds and later gave him funds, Life Essence, Grain-Repelling Pills, and scar-removal lotion to help him escape serfdom. 10 25
  • Jack — Former roommate who traded Yin Ming's hemostatic-powder knowledge for an Apprentice Knight position. Yin Ming forgave him and instead requested knight cultivation knowledge and Life Essence. 16 17
  • Red Nose — Red-nosed macaque transformed into a Quasit through Yin Ming's Bloodline Potion. Yin Ming forced Red Nose into soul-bound servitude, extracted his inherited knowledge, released him to the Abyss, and later summoned him again. 19 21 48
  • Anthony Silvercoin — Flame-Burners exchange official and recurring business intermediary. Anthony facilitates Yin Ming's purchases, sales, bribes, and the Golden Sore Medicine transaction. 31 41 42
  • Johnny Green — Wounded Flame-Burner whom Yin Ming rescued to study his firearm and alchemical equipment. Johnny later introduced Yin Ming to the Flame-Burners Association. 25 26 28
  • Robert Kava — Ember school chairman who certified Yin Ming as a scholar. Their association is useful but distrustful; both secretly secured advantages after uncovering hidden runes on an ancient stele. 30 36
  • Jeroen Hoven — Tulip Manor's abusive steward and Yin Ming's early oppressor. Yin Ming killed him with Wizard's Hand after Hoven attempted to torture him in the Magic Beast Forest. 13
