Background
Raccoon City Incident
During the Raccoon City outbreak, Sherry runs through the streets seeking help after neither her mother nor the police answer her calls. Claire Redfield shelters her, while Li Zu identifies the lab-coated mutant pursuing her as a threat beyond ordinary zombies 208.
The creature is Sherry's transformed father, Dr. William Birkin. His fixation on her leads Li Zu to conclude that Sherry carries a scent that continually draws him back to the group 209. Claire becomes Sherry's primary source of comfort during the pursuit, while Li Zu treats her connection to the monster as a tactical danger.
After escaping Raccoon City, Sherry is repeatedly hunted by Umbrella and government forces. Claire reports that both organizations experimented on her, drew her blood, and treated her as a specimen after her parents died 223. Her unnatural resilience allows her to remain conscious despite being shot multiple times 223 226.
Life with Li Zu
Claire ultimately asks Li Zu to take responsibility for Sherry when she chooses to remain behind to search for her brother. Sherry accepts Li Zu's protection and follows him when he leaves the apocalypse behind 239.
In Gotham, Sherry resumes school and regards ordinary student life as precious after surviving the destruction of her world. She performs exceptionally well academically, teaching herself her grade's material and earning full marks; her teacher considers recommending her for advanced study abroad 288 290.
Li Zu's guardianship is casual but practical. He gives her money, emergency weapons, and living monster-toys for protection, while Sherry increasingly manages her own safety and daily life 292 303.
Appearance
Sherry is initially a small, light-blonde girl of about ten, often seen in a plaid school uniform. She has a freckled, cute appearance and usually wears her pale golden hair in a ponytail 208 290 296.
- Her G-virus evolution can temporarily age her body into that of a teenager or adult, increasing her height beyond 1.7 meters 305 306.
- In combat, her hands can mutate into long, blade-like claws 306.
- She can form bone, flesh, and keratin armor over parts of her body, including defensive shields 306 361.
- Her body continues to mature unusually quickly; she surpasses 160 centimeters before entering middle school 353.
Personality
Sherry is frightened by the horrors surrounding her but is not easily overwhelmed. Even when first meeting Claire and Li Zu in Raccoon City, she does not cry; instead, she tries to explain the danger pursuing her 208.
She is observant, mature, and increasingly pragmatic for her age. At scout training, she deliberately takes second place rather than display her full speed, following Li Zu's advice not to stand out 292 293. She also recognizes the danger posed by Li Zu's weaponized toys and immediately pursues her stolen backpack rather than waiting helplessly for rescue 304.
Her G-virus development steadily changes her emotional life. Though she still values school, friends, and people such as Claire, she later notices that her evolution is stripping away her emotions 296 405.
Abilities & Skills
G-virus Physiology
Sherry's body possesses extreme regenerative capacity and an unstable ability to evolve under pressure.

- Regenerates deep wounds, including injuries from an evolved Licker's bites and claws 306.
- Can force bullets out of her own body after being shot 405.
- Her evolution is unpredictable; Li Zu fears that new genes, viruses, or environmental changes could trigger further mutation 306.
- Increasing mutation is associated with emotional suppression and periods of fever or instability 306 405.
Adaptive Mutation
Under extreme danger, Sherry can alter her body for combat and defense.
- Temporarily matures into a taller, older form with greatly increased physical power 305 306.
