Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Combine-Combine Fruit user 73 Ate the Paramecia-type Combine-Combine Fruit at age thirteen.
Devil Fruit Awakening 2 Had awakened the fruit several years before escaping Impel Down, allowing him to arrange and combine surrounding matter on a vast scale.
Cellular Recombination 2 Developed cellular-level self-manipulation after assimilating another world's knowledge; regenerated limbs, liquefied his body to escape through cell bars, and freely reshaped flesh.
Large-scale material fusion 9 21 Reshaped Impel Down's structure into an exit, then fused ten Marine warships into a super-battleship over 400 meters long.
Pacifista-powered giant construct 60 61 Created a 50-meter Gundam using the energy cores of more than forty Pacifistas. Its limited energy was expended in an island-annihilating final attack.
Cellular electrical storage 147 Redesigned his cells into a “storage battery” inspired by electric eels, then charged himself by enduring a lightning storm.
Lightning-enhanced flight and discharge 155 Formed fleshy wings faster than Moonwalk, used blue lightning for propulsion, and developed One Hundred Million Volts Discharge: Lightning Dragon.
Seven-heart experiment 222 Created up to seven hearts within his body; their combined beating released a pressure wave across Demon God Island, but did not establish a stable path to a second Devil Fruit.
Three-heart Devil Fruit fusion 255 Fused Kuzan into himself as a third heart, gaining ice transformation. Bullet concluded that adding further fused users would make his body explode.
Composite elemental combat form 275 284 Combined ice armor, lightning, Armament Haki, magnetic-field rotation, rapid movement, and Conqueror's Haki coating against Kaido.
Split-body control 324 Divided into duplicate bodies and converted a split body into invasive flesh particles capable of entering another person's body.

Background

Bullet was born in Fierzburg, capital of the Endless War Country. After the World Government commissioned the Douglas Kingdom to destroy Fierzburg, he entered the Douglas Kingdom's army at age eight and served in its suicide squads. He was raised within Douglas Gray's Barrett Unit, where children were identified by numbers rather than names. Bullet was once Number 9; Gray granted him the surname “Barrett” after he became the unit's strongest warrior. Bullet does not know his biological parents or his original name. 73 103

At thirteen, he ate the Combine-Combine Fruit. He destroyed the Douglas Kingdom alone at fourteen, joined the Roger Pirates at fifteen, fought Rayleigh to a draw at sixteen, and left Roger's crew at eighteen. At twenty-two, Garp and Sengoku captured him through a Buster Call and imprisoned him in Impel Down's Infinite Hell. 73

Roughly half a year before his escape, Bullet overwhelmed an invading soul from another world and absorbed its memories. The memories gave him knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, and a possible future in which Luffy defeated him. Rather than accept that future, Bullet treated it as a challenge to his conviction and pursued a path to surpass both destiny and Roger. 1 2

Appearance

Bullet is a towering, broad-shouldered man with an extraordinarily muscular physique, blond hair flowing down his back, and an oppressive predatory aura. His body grew substantially during imprisonment and continued expanding afterward. 73 244 283

  • Usually appears bare-chested, emphasizing his massive arms and steel-like musculature. 1 244
  • His eyes can glow blood-red when he is bloodthirsty or enraged. 1
  • His palms are large enough to seize an opponent's head or body outright. 7 92
  • Can alter his own anatomy into liquid, wings, scales, ice armor, extra hearts, animal features, and separate bodies. 2 155 222 275 324

Personality

Bullet initially defines himself through solitary strength. He rejects the idea that companionship is necessary to become the strongest and considers dependence on destiny an insult to the decades he spent training and surviving. His overriding ambitions are to surpass Roger, overcome Rocks D. Xebec's individual power, and decide his own fate through strength. 1 9 250

He is ruthless, pragmatic, and willing to mutilate, imprison, coerce, or absorb people when they are useful to his plans. He treats Teach as a Devil Fruit-transfer tool, keeps valuable prisoners alive for future use, and turns captured enemies into experimental material rather than trusted allies. 15 111 249 255

The otherworldly memories made Bullet increasingly analytical. He approaches Devil Fruits, Lineage Factors, Haki, energy generation, and bodily structure as systems to be tested rather than mysteries to be accepted. This curiosity drives his increasingly extreme experiments. 2 147 249 251

Despite his brutality, Bullet respects demonstrated determination. He restored Number 9's arm after the boy survived his test, trained Shirahoshi in combat and Haki, and saved Ace from execution despite expecting possible future conflict with Whitebeard's crew. 61 108 137

Abilities & Skills

Combine-Combine Fruit

Bullet's Paramecia allows him to arrange and combine matter. He can merge touched inorganic material into his body and reshape the resulting mass into weapons, vehicles, armor, or other structures. 2

  • Reconfigured Impel Down's floor and ceiling into an escape route. 9
  • Fused captured Marine warships into the Hell Battleship. 21
  • Built a temporary 50-meter Gundam from Pacifistas and their energy cores. 60
  • Can reshape detached or damaged flesh and reconstruct injured bodies, including his own. 2 108 146
  • Can liquefy himself into black-red particles, pass through confined spaces, and reform elsewhere. 2 146
  • Has transformed into a giant eagle for aerial transport. 108

Cellular Recombination

Cellular Recombination is Bullet's self-directed extension of the Combine-Combine Fruit. It permits molecular-scale reconstruction of his own body, making conventional injuries and restraints far less effective. 2

  • Regenerated hands and feet after crushing them to escape Sea-Prism Stone shackles. 2
  • Reshaped a hand into a flower and a living squirrel as proof of fine biological control. 2
  • Created wings, scales, extra limbs, hearts, and copies of himself. 155 222 251 324
  • Can invade other bodies as flesh particles, though this method is violently invasive and experimental. 251 324

Devil Fruit Fusion

Bullet uses Teach's ability-transfer power alongside Non-Living Devil Fruit Fusion Technology and his own body manipulation to implant other Devil Fruit users or their hearts into himself. 220 222

  • Experimented with Tigress's heart and the Monkey-Monkey Fruit while investigating multi-Fruit compatibility. 220 222
  • Fused Wang Zhi into his body, gaining access to Warp-Warp Fruit-derived applications. 251 255
  • Fused Kuzan as a third heart, gaining Ice-Ice Fruit powers. 255
  • His current body cannot safely contain more than three fused ability users. 255

Haki

Bullet possesses advanced proficiency in all three forms of Haki and relies on it as the destructive core of his combat style. 73 251

  • Armament Haki — Produces exceptionally vast quantities, enough to cover areas spanning several kilometers; forms invisible body armor and massive air-based arms. 28 42
  • Observation Haki — Can perceive distant presences and employ Observation Killing to conceal or suppress targets within a range of more than ten miles. 272
  • Conqueror's Haki — Can incapacitate armies and Sea Kings with a release of willpower; uses Conqueror's coating in direct clashes with top-tier opponents. 19 104 284

Physical Strength and Combat

Bullet's unarmed power and natural durability are repeatedly compared to Kaido's. Bullets, cannon fire, blades, and many Devil Fruit attacks fail to penetrate his body or Haki armor. 47 48 51

  • Crushed Teach's head in one hand and casually defeated Blackbeard's core crew. 7
  • Overpowered Luffy, Jinbe, Crocodile, Magellan, Hancock, and multiple Admirals. 13 48 60 155
  • Uses Six Powers-derived techniques, including Finger Pistol Secret Art: Void Piercer. 104
  • Employs a silver battle axe for high-output Haki-coated attacks. 283 284

Lightning, Ice, and Mobility

Bullet's cellular battery design lets him generate, store, and discharge electricity. Later fusion with Kuzan expanded this into a combined ice-and-lightning fighting style. 147 255

  • Uses lightning propulsion through wings for high-speed flight. 155
  • Fires One Hundred Million Volts Discharge: Lightning Dragon. 155
  • Creates dense ice armor, ice wings, and ice-crystal constructs enhanced with electrical current. 275 284
  • Used Ice Soul! True Thousand Hands and Ice Soul! Lightning Dragon! Instant Prison Kill! against Kaido. 284

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Hell Battleship — A colossal black warship formed by fusing ten Marine vessels; Bullet uses it as the Demon God Pirates' flagship. 21
  • Silver battle axe — A large axe wielded with Conqueror's Haki coating during his confrontation with Kaido. 283 284
  • Pacifista-core Gundam — A temporary 50-meter combat construct powered by the energy cores of more than forty Pacifistas. 60 61

Relationships

  • Douglas Gray — Creator and father figure who trained Bullet in the Barrett Unit, gave him his name, and later betrayed him to the World Government as a “lesson” about betrayal. Bullet ultimately keeps Gray alive to train an army for him. 103 104 106
  • Marshall D. Teach — Coerced subordinate and indispensable tool whose ability can absorb and transfer Devil Fruit powers. Bullet knows Teach intends to escape when possible and refuses to trust him. 15 111
  • Shiryu of the Rain — Subordinate who swore to serve as Bullet's blade while openly intending to one day challenge and kill him. 9
  • Patrick Redfield / Red Count — Rescued and recruited powerhouse who serves as Bullet's vice-captain after regaining his youth. 150 179 244
  • Shirahoshi — Student whom Bullet trains in physical strength, Haki, and the Six Powers; she addresses him as “Teacher Bullet.” 137
  • Monkey D. Luffy — Rival and experimental subject. Bullet seeks to determine whether Luffy's importance comes from his own destiny or the Nika Fruit. 13 15
  • Portgas D. Ace — Bullet freed Ace from Sea-Prism Stone cuffs and handed him to Marco, preventing his execution. 61
  • Kuzan — Captured former Admiral whom Bullet first questioned about strength, then forcibly fused into his body to obtain Ice-Ice Fruit powers. 250 255
  • Donquixote Doflamingo — Uneasy subordinate and information source who offers Bullet Devil Fruits, arms deals, and Celestial Dragon knowledge in exchange for favor and access to Bullet's research. 83 220 320
  • Kaido — Opponent whom Bullet fought and defeated; Kaido subsequently joined the Demon God Pirates. 284 293 320
  • Buena Festa — Fanatically devoted Foreign Affairs Minister responsible for recruitment and promoting the Demon God Pirates. 255
