Nature and Function

Divine Markings are the visible “form” of a Bloodline Divine Ability. Ferocious beasts inherit such abilities from primordial ancestors when their bloodline is sufficiently pure and an appropriate awakening opportunity arises. When activated, the markings generally surface across the body and reveal how the power operates within flesh, blood, and qi 12.

They are not ornamental patterns. Their lines, nodes, circulation routes, and rhythms coordinate with muscles, blood-qi, Aperture Points, and body structure to produce effects such as physical amplification, speed, defense, elemental attacks, concealment, or spiritual-energy absorption 10 13 52.

• A beast’s markings may fade completely after death, making direct preservation difficult 10.
• Inactive markings can exist deep within a beast’s body rather than on its surface 35 36.
• The complexity of a diagram varies enormously; Lin Yi can rapidly comprehend low-level markings but cannot yet decipher Little Flame’s complete Gilded Divine Markings 44 59.
• Directly copying a beast’s pattern onto a human body is ineffective because humans and beasts have different anatomy, meridians, and Aperture Point arrangements 13.

Manifestation and Observation

Surface Manifestation

When a Bloodline Divine Ability is active, Divine Markings may emerge over the bearer’s body and brighten as blood and qi circulate through them. The Savage Bull King’s markings spread from its shoulders across its spine, ribs, limbs, and head; their radiance intensified as it exerted more force 9 10.

The patterns can reinforce a bearer’s body and attacks. The Savage Bull King’s thick hide became difficult to penetrate while its markings were active, and its strength continued increasing as the markings flared 10.

Internal Structure

Divine Markings can remain hidden inside a living creature’s flesh. Lin Yi’s Spirit Eyes can penetrate fur, flesh, and carapace to observe these inactive internal structures, allowing him to record a Divine Mark Diagram without waiting for the creature to activate its ability 30 36.

This method lets Lin Yi identify whether a beast possesses markings at all; a giant bear examined with Spirit Eyes showed only ordinary meridians and blood vitality, with no Divine Marking structure 35.

Human-Awakened Markings

While recovering from severe injuries, white-gold Divine Markings emerged across Lin Yi’s cerebral cortex, evolved autonomously through spiritual-energy absorption, and extended through his neural pathways to his eyes 29. These markings later manifest as pale-gold patterns over his eyeballs when he activates the Spirit Eyes 30.

Di Qing identifies Lin Yi’s Spirit Eyes as an awakened Divine Ability, an anomaly because pure-blooded humans normally do not awaken Innate Divine Abilities 55 56.

Human martial techniques and divine abilities originated from ancient practitioners studying ferocious beasts, copying their Divine Markings, deducing their internal principles, and transforming beastly forms into methods suitable for human bodies 12.

Lin Yi follows this process more directly than ordinary cultivators. He records diagrams with his Super Brain, identifies their functional components, then rebuilds their routes around human meridians and acupoints 13 32.

Lin Yi does not treat each diagram as a fixed, isolated technique. He extracts compatible structures and incorporates them into broader systems.

• A partial Lava Giant Ape diagram upgrades the Savage Bull Diagram into the Great Wilderness Divine-Pattern Record and upgrades the Savage Bull Art into the Great Wilderness Art 52.
• Low-level markings provide limited individual gains, but layered together can strengthen the underlying structure of the Great Wilderness Divine-Pattern Record 65.
