Background

Before the main conflict, Tang San had already formed the Shrek Seven Devils, acquired the Death God Domain, and obtained Xiao Wu’s spirit ring. He also founded the Tang Sect and was recognized as a direct descendant of Clear Sky School. 3 15 24

Qian Renxue’s apparent death during the Heaven Dou Palace Coup is attributed to Tang San by Qian Daoliu and the wider world. In reality, Qian Renxue was secretly placed into an undetectable feigned-death state by Ye Cangming; this fact is unknown to Tang San and those retaliating against him. 3 4 11

Personality

Tang San is intensely survival-oriented when facing superior enemies. After learning that Qian Daoliu had reached Sea God Island, he accepted the island’s protection rather than confronting the Peerless Douluo directly. During the invasion, he escaped by ship with the Shrek group while Tang Hao remained behind to delay Ye Cangming. 46 66 72 73

He responds to loss with uncompromising vengeance. Upon learning that Qian Daoliu had destroyed Clear Sky School and the Tang Sect, he vowed to destroy Spirit Hall and kill Qian Daoliu after achieving godhood. 47

Tang San refuses to accept responsibility for the catastrophe surrounding Qian Renxue’s apparent death. He calls Qian Daoliu a hypocrite and argues that nobody in his position would have held back. 60 He also conceals hostility behind outward restraint; after Sea Dragon Douluo rebukes him, Tang San privately marks the Sea God Island guardian for death. 48

Refuge on Sea God Island

Tang San reaches Sea God Island, begins the Nine Sea God Trials, and becomes protected by Bo Saixi. His arrival draws Qian Daoliu and eventually the Spirit Hall Empire into war with Sea God Island. 42 43 50

After learning the scale of Qian Daoliu’s massacres, Tang San rallies his companions around eventual revenge and urges them to pursue divine inheritances before confronting Spirit Hall. 47 48

Escape from Sea God Island

As the Spirit Hall Empire overwhelms Sea God Island, Tang San withdraws with the Shrek group under Yu Xiaogang’s direction. Tang Hao remains behind to stall Ye Cangming, allowing their ship to escape unnoticed. 66 71 72 73

Tang San declares that Sea God Island’s destruction is “worth it” because he intends to avenge its defenders after becoming a god. 72

Star Luo resistance

Following Sea God Island’s fall, Tang San hides in a remote Star Luo town with his allies. He supports Yu Xiaogang’s plan to use Dai Mubai’s identity as the last legitimate Star Luo heir to gather resistance forces against the Spirit Hall Empire. 84 85

The resistance gathers roughly 500,000 soldiers but lacks the Soul Master strength to challenge the Spirit Hall Empire directly. Tang San’s side depends on delaying its enemy long enough for its divine inheritors to achieve godhood. 85 86
