Background / History

Li Yun spent his childhood without a stable home after his parents divorced and formed new families. His grandfather took him in at a rural town near Shu Capital, arranging for Li Yun’s uncle’s family to support him through university in exchange for inheriting the old house. Before dying, the grandfather also left Li Yun a small personal fund, which Li Yun used to continue his education. Li Yun later graduated from university and became an overworked office employee in Shu Capital. 20

While still a corporate worker, Li Yun entered an ancient abandoned dream: a sea of clouds, a stone platform, and a moonlit lake. There he met a youthful Daoist fisherman with a face resembling his own. The fisherman identified himself as a conditional reflection arising from Li Yun’s mind and gave him the Azure Jade Mirror, which remained in Li Yun’s hand after he awoke. 1

Li Yun soon severed ties with his former work life, isolating himself in his rental room to investigate the Mirror. He discovered the Subconscious Sea and the Dream in the Mirror, learned to create simple physical objects from imagination, and built the incomplete intelligence AC to compensate for his limited processing ability. After the pain and inefficiency of harvesting energy directly from the Subconscious Sea, he developed the Main God Space Mode plan. 2

As the Main God Game expanded, Li Yun became its Administrator: overseeing dream worlds, setting newcomer incentives, studying participant behavior, and shaping rules intended to produce a stable supply of mental energy. 7 11

After becoming publicly active as a Main God user, Li Yun moved from his aging first-floor rental into a detached three-story house quietly arranged through the Main God. Although he initially treats the property as a practical shelter, cleaning it and returning to familiar habits gives him an unfamiliar sense of having a home. 41

Li Yun later returns to his rural hometown and reunites with his uncle Li Luyuan and aunt. Though his appearance and powers have changed drastically, he discreetly gives them restorative medicine, helps clear the path to his grandfather’s grave, and continues concealing the full extent of his circumstances from them. 314 315

Li Yun initially presents as an ordinary, exhausted office worker in black-rimmed glasses. Exposure to the Dream in the Mirror gradually changes his body and appearance, leaving him notably younger-looking, refined, and striking. 2 21

Personality

Li Yun is rational, skeptical, and unusually composed around the supernatural. Even when meeting a dream-reflection of himself, he responds with practical questions and dry humor rather than panic. 1

He is highly analytical and prefers observation, experimentation, and careful resource allocation over blind ambition. He recognizes that neither he nor the Main God can fully model human motives, and he personally enters the Main God Game to identify flaws that automated systems may miss. 11 21

Despite his detached manner, Li Yun repeatedly helps others when he believes intervention is worthwhile. He anonymously stops intoxicated strangers from harming themselves, gives Kutanda cloth for warmth during the Blood Moon trial, protects Li Jiye from mental corruption, and quietly evaluates ways to reduce dangerous exchange options. 20 21 26 27 31

His restraint is especially apparent in his treatment of power. He abandons a Demigod-level possibility rather than lose his humanity and refuses the Blood Moon’s Four-Star side quest when he judges it far beyond his current capabilities. 19 31

Although he increasingly views global change from a perspective far above ordinary humans, Li Yun preserves mundane habits—eating ordinary meals, drinking tea, maintaining his glasses, and returning home to visit family—to keep contact with his former human life. 111 314 315

Spiritual Image and System Expansion

The return of an Earth Sovereign Primordial Spirit fragment begins a painful evolution of Li Yun’s Spiritual Image. While enduring the transformation, he authorizes a major Main God expansion, loosens selected online-system restrictions, and permits the system to recruit users on a much larger scale. 88

Li Yun subsequently surveys the Main God Website’s network of tens of millions of linked minds, filtering their chaotic thoughts into abstract emotional signals while deliberately retaining ordinary routines to keep himself grounded. 111

As government agencies identify and screen Main God users, Li Yun permits officials led by Hu Dingjun to visit and question him. Reality Transformation and Numinous Spark Research

As spiritual energy begins altering reality, Li Yun studies Numinous Sparks, spiritual malignancy, meteorite remnants, and the changing relationship between humanity and the world’s emerging supernatural ecology.
