Personality

Natsu is energetic, combative, and intensely competitive. He readily argues with Gray, eagerly accepts difficult missions, and refuses to back down when provoked—even while too motion-sick to fight properly 31 43.

His impulsiveness repeatedly creates trouble: he boards trains despite severe motion sickness, illegally takes an S-Class request, and instinctively confronts dangerous enemies 43 46 47. However, he also acts decisively in battle and responds strongly to emotional provocation, which can significantly increase his power 47.

Kaisa City Mission

Natsu arrives in Kaisa City with Gray, Erza, and Cana. His train sickness briefly disappears when Gray mocks him, leading to one of their usual arguments. Erza ultimately allows Natsu and Gray to handle their mission independently 31.

Encounter with Lucy

After a coastal disaster destroys Achill’s belongings, Natsu defeats an impostor with Fire Dragon’s Roar and proudly confirms that he belongs to Fairy Tail. Achill warns Natsu and Lucy that authorities are approaching, prompting Natsu to flee with Lucy 41.

Lullaby and Eisenwald

Natsu joins Erza, Gray, Lucy, and Happy in pursuing Eisenwald. He is accidentally left aboard a train, where his motion sickness leaves him vulnerable to an Eisenwald mage. After Erza’s group rescues him, he continues the pursuit 43.

Natsu reaches Erigor before Achill but is overwhelmed as Erigor’s wind magic suppresses his Fire Dragon Slayer Magic. Achill intervenes, kills Erigor, and takes Lullaby; Natsu is left both frightened by and suspiciously familiar with the masked swordsman 44.

Unauthorized S-Class Mission

Natsu secretly takes an S-Class request from Fairy Tail’s restricted second floor and departs with Lucy and Happy. Makarov considers the mission far too dangerous for him, while Gray volunteers to retrieve him 46.

Island Conflict

Natsu battles the disguised Ultear on a strange island. Though she repeatedly evades him, his anger enables him to land Fire Dragon’s Sword Horn and prove his strength as a true Dragon Slayer 47.

Achill interrupts the battle to confront Ultear. Natsu witnesses Achill’s overwhelming use of Sode no Shirayuki and Benihime, then later identifies him as the same masked man who killed Erigor and took Lullaby 47 48 49.
