Background
Lin Jun inherited the identity and memories of a notorious wastrel whose conduct had alienated nearly everyone around him. Chen Feng, his uncle’s subordinate and assigned guard, had grown so disgusted with the former Lin Jun that he deliberately abandoned him to demons, intending to die after confirming his master’s death. The present Lin Jun understood Chen Feng’s motives and chose not to punish him for them 3.
After surviving the Snake Demon cave, Lin Jun discovered a panel that converts demon kills into experience and allows him to simulate years of training. He immediately used it to perfect the Flowing Swallow Saber Technique, then began treating demon extermination as both a duty and the fastest path to survival 2 8.
His early campaigns in Green Forest County transformed his reputation. He exterminated the Bear Demon family after finding their human victims, buried the dead, and vowed to become strong enough that he would not be helpless before the world’s cruelty again 7. He later uncovered evidence that local authorities had tolerated demons while the former Lin Jun was harmless, making his genuine demon-slaying a threat to an entrenched arrangement 19.
Personality
Lin Jun is blunt, practical, and extremely goal-oriented. He prioritizes eliminating immediate threats over etiquette, political maneuvering, or appearances; this often makes him seem callous, especially when he insists on eradicating demons and their descendants before they can become future dangers 8 85.
His ruthlessness toward demons coexists with a strong attachment to human life. The mutilated victims in the Bear Demon cave made him physically ill, and he consistently reacts with particular hostility toward those who prey on civilians or treat mortals as disposable 7 328. He refuses to define himself as anything other than human despite demonic bloodline powers and repeated accusations that he is Demonkin 60 396.
He is also cautious beneath his confidence. Lin Jun will retreat from enemies beyond his ability, cooperates with Bureau procedure when open resistance would be counterproductive, and avoids needlessly fighting weak demons when information or discretion is more valuable 21 62 257.
Views on Demons
Lin Jun does not kill indiscriminately solely because a being is nonhuman. He spared Danglu Lord because the Wolf Demon had not harmed humans and accepted supervision instead, while he maintains relationships with Lu Ling, Qing He, Nine-Tail, and other demons who do not prey on people 104 131.
His tolerance ends when demons harm humans or threaten future atrocities. This distinction informs both his willingness to protect cooperative demons and his recurring insistence on leaving no dangerous enemy alive 104 255.
Abilities & Skills
Simulation Panel
Lin Jun’s panel awards experience for killing demons and lets him simulate decades or centuries of cultivation, deduction, and combat study in moments.
- Can perfect, repair, modify, and combine martial arts or cultivation methods through simulated insight 31 60 68.
- Converts Demon Cores into cultivation, special abilities, essence blood, or deduced martial arts depending on his chosen approach 21 75.
- Its growth eventually becomes constrained by the scarcity of demons powerful enough to provide meaningful experience 625.
Human Core and Body Cultivation
Lin Jun’s core cultivation began with the True Scripture of Body-Melting and Furnace-Casting, then developed through the Human Core Art.
- His body continuously refines heaven-and-earth energy after entering Origin Transformation 14.
- The Human Core Art cultivates both physique and qi and remains effective through the Core-Embracing Realm 60.
- He formed his Golden Core through Hammered Core, an almost-lost method that tempers the body through violent destruction and reconstruction 114.
- His Jade Core contains Divine Thunder and tempers both body and Divine Soul 136.
Form-Shedding and Soul-Shattering Body-Fusion
Lin Jun fused his Divine Soul into his physical body through repeated shedding and reconstruction.
- The Form-Shedding Technique lets him dissolve and rebuild flesh, organs, bones, and blood 209.
- The Soul-Shattering Body-Fusion Art turns shattered soul components into permanent physical strength 209 241.
- After completing the process, he no longer possesses an independent Divine Soul; his flesh and blood function as his soul 249.
- This grants exceptional durability and recovery, but prevents him from abandoning his body to escape as a soul 249.
Blade Arts
Lin Jun’s principal offensive style centers on saber and sword techniques adapted for demon-slaying.
- Baleful Blood Demon-Subduing Blade — A Transformation-Origin blade art driven by killing intent and blood energy; its ultimate forms evolved from Heavenly Star Baleful Image into Blood-Tiger Baleful Image 21 31.
- Blood-Transforming Astral Wind — Creates a vortex of astral cutting wind capable of shredding demon-beasts and trapping stronger enemies; Lin Jun later raised it to the Transcendent Realm to destroy Zhang Zhen’s avatar 75 101.
- One-Character Yang Strike — A weaponless burst technique that condenses physical force and killing intent into a single decisive strike 49 51.
- Swift Mountain Waters — A Dao Martial movement art that borrows worldly momentum to create phantom cavalry, immense speed, and destructive force; it can cross Great Yin in a day but damages Lin Jun’s body 257.
Defensive Arts
- Frost-Thunder True Armor — Icy armor covered by restrained lightning. It greatly improves Lin Jun’s defense without restricting movement and shocks close-range attackers 37.
- Profound Demon Body-Tempering Canon — A demon-devouring body art that Lin Jun modified through his Sky Fox Bloodline to eliminate the normal risk of cultivation deviation 68.
Deathward Eye Origin True Scripture
A Divine-Soul martial art that grants Deathward True Qi and perception of structural weak points.
- Enables invisible-force manipulation at range, such as lifting objects without touching them 135.
- Reveals colored “Death Gates” on objects and living beings; striking one can destroy, cripple, or kill the target 135.
- Stronger martial artists possess fewer, dimmer, or no visible Death Gates 135.
Sky Fox Bloodline and Fox Companion
Lin Jun possesses an incomplete Sky Fox Bloodline strengthened through demon cores and essence blood.
- Creates a separate internal circulation that coexists with his human cultivation rather than replacing it 60.
- Can manifest combat-capable fox forms; the initial Three-Tailed Fox possessed Body-Breach strength and could persist as long as Lin Jun survived 68.
- His fox companion later grew into Nine-Tail through accumulated bloodline, essence blood, and Incense Power 104 210.
- Seven-Tail could possess Lin Jun and conceal his human aura completely, allowing him to appear physically and spiritually demonic 104.
Dao Realms and Worldly Momentum
Lin Jun can refine Dao Realms from defeated enemies and use them as reservoirs of power.
- Dao Realms enhance his combat power beyond his nominal cultivation level and can be refined with experience 302.
- He uses worldly momentum to form soldier-like phantoms and vast cavalry manifestations 257 343.
- At one point, he summoned forty-eight Dao Realms, Great Yin’s Nation Vein, soldier phantoms, and a massive Nine-Tail Fox to suppress the Yin Ruins Sect 388.
Three Calamities
Lin Jun chose the dangerous genuine Three Calamities path rather than the safer False Calamity Method.
- Heaven-Earth Heartfire reforges the heart, strengthens circulation and recovery, but inflicts constant pain and consumes lifespan 422.
- Thunder Calamity marked his Second Calamity and sharply increased his combat power 432.
- The final Wind Calamity creates a self-training mental domain that continuously refines combat experience and cultivation methods, though its pain can drive practitioners mad 453.
Equipment
- Demon-Slaying Sword — A major weapon that absorbs and refines demon blood, feeds energy back into Lin Jun’s cultivation, and houses Yuan Yu’s recovering Divine Soul 382 384.
- Moon-Covering Blade — Saber used to decapitate the Scorpion Demon Sage Yuanhuang 319.
- Dragon-forged horse-chopping saber — Forged from a dragon’s head; durable enough to endure Lin Jun’s Astral Qi and Deathward True Qi 154.
- Soul-Eating Bell — Captured after Daoist Qingfeng’s defeat and later traded for the Qi-Riding Cloud-Soaring Art 91 103.
- Soul-forging Furnace — Heaven Fox Clan relic and potential Root Vessel for advancing to Spirit Transcendence 462.
- World-Breaking Ark — Single-use flying vessel capable of bypassing the sealed Ascension Passage and crossing toward Heaven Beyond Heaven 384.
- Demon Kingdom Edict — Succession artifact that responded to Lin Jun and reinforced his claim as Demon Kingdom Lord 403.
Relationships
- Chen Feng — Formerly Lin Jun’s unwilling guard; attempted to abandon the former Lin Jun to demons, but became Lin Jun’s trusted companion and repeatedly witnessed his abnormal growth 3 21 85.
- Duan Yan — Injured Demon Exorcist whom Lin Jun sheltered and cared for. She shared the incomplete Wind-Thunder True Armor and repeatedly tried to recruit him into her family 28 30.
- Yang Yan — Lin Jun’s uncle and former protector, who treated him like a son. Lin Jun agreed to investigate the case that led to Yang Yan’s imprisonment and later promised to retrieve Yang Wan 51 154.
- Yang Shi — Associate and student whom Lin Jun trained in Blood-Baleful Aura and the Demon-Subduing Blade Technique 62.
- He Jing — Hongyan Sect swordsman, early rival, ally, and later one of Lin Jun’s chosen Headquarters confidants 28 154.
- Zuo Huai — Yang Wan’s senior brother, mentor-like companion, and frequent adviser who supports Lin Jun despite being repeatedly stunned by his progress 93 114.
- Jiang Jue — Armaments Division Court Pillar who supported Lin Jun’s advancement, forged weapons for him, and later deferred to his authority 51 154.
- Bai Jie — Peacock Clan descendant who initially underestimated Lin Jun, later sought his help against her grandfather and became one of his important allies 115 121.
- Qing He — Fox demon guide and traveling companion. Lin Jun protects him but eventually agrees that Qing He needs training before accompanying dangerous missions 257 310.
- Nine-Tail — Lin Jun’s evolving fox companion and source of fox-bloodline power, Incense Power, disguise, and combat support 104 210.
- Yan Hua — Strategic protector who backed Lin Jun against Dragonrider Island and proposed that he become Demon Kingdom ruler 367 396.
- Yuan Yu — Martial Venerable Divine Soul residing in the Demon-Slaying Sword; serves as adviser, protector, and blunt counterweight to Lin Jun’s destructive impulses 384 388.

Trivia

- His public image shifted from a feared wastrel to a celebrated demon-slayer so quickly that former acquaintances repeatedly assumed his accomplishments were fabricated or politically arranged 23 75.
- He considers himself a human regardless of his fox-bloodline abilities, demonic aura, or political status as Demon Kingdom ruler 60 396.
