• They are usually mindless and act solely on instinct, making negotiation impossible 417.
• Ordinary Sea Demons do not distinguish friend from foe and may attack even the beings that lured them to an area 437.
• They initially appeared confined to the Desolate Sea, but later spread into the Outer Sea and Inner Sea before coming ashore in overwhelming numbers 475.
• They generally do not target creatures without cultivation, though their attacks and flooding can still devastate inhabited regions 545.

Sea Demon Blood

History

Sea Demons existed in Lao Xu's era, but were then comparatively weak and did not threaten great powers. Their origin, strength, and purpose were already unknown, and investigations produced no answer 452. For a long period, they remained restricted to the Desolate Sea, allowing the rest of Heaven Beyond Heaven to treat them as a contained danger 475.

Before the catastrophe, increasingly powerful Sea Demons accumulated in the Desolate Sea, while the strongest among them appeared to be dormant and awaiting an opportunity to awaken 472. After Lin Jun spent several thousand years cultivating, the Sea Demons had vanished from their former depths—not because they had disappeared, but because they had gone ashore 476.

Their expansion through the Outer Sea and Inner Sea culminated in widespread destruction. Moonlit Island, Dragonrider Island, and much of the old maritime order were lost to Sea Demon attacks, while Tidal Sea Hall became a leading force resisting them 479 488. Their continued emergence is treated as an expression of the Heavenly Tribulation: as long as the tribulation remains, Sea Demons will continue to form 496 558.

Story Role / Major Arcs

• Attack on the Realm-entrant ship — A Demon Venerable-level Sea Demon nearly destroys Wang Feng's ship and drags fleeing entrants into the sea. Lin Jun appears atop its head and kills it with one sword strike 417 418.
• Sea Demon Blood as a weapon — Lin Jun learns to store Sea Demon Blood in the Demon-Slaying Sword, injects it into Bai Lie, and deliberately releases it to summon a swarm that consumes the evidence of Bai Lie's death 428.
• Bai Zong's death — Lin Jun covers the sea in stored blood, lures hundreds of Sea Demons, and escapes with a concealment technique while they drag Bai Zong beneath the waves 437.
