Background

Valkyries were originally Schicksal warriors deployed directly against Honkai Beasts and Corpses. Early Valkyrie forces lacked sufficient technology and standardized weaponry; fighters were armed with firearms, blades, and heavy weapons from different countries and sent into battle as expendable assets. 30 171

Schicksal created Valkyries through artificial Stigmata implantation. The procedure improved Honkai Energy resistance but imposed severe physical damage and drastically shortened the user’s lifespan. Under the earlier system, candidates who met minimum standards underwent augmentation immediately; survivors became D-rank Valkyries and often entered battle before receiving adequate experience. 156 165

Following Freya’s reforms, Valkyries gained safer modification methods, greater career choice, protected personnel files, and the ability to refuse deployments that violated their personal will. The original force was reorganized into the Alliance’s Apocalypse Knights and Valkyrie Guild. 311 400 508

Physiology

Valkyries possess physical capabilities beyond ordinary humans and a natural aptitude for resisting and using Honkai Energy. Their enhancements vary substantially: some focus on physical reinforcement, while others manipulate Honkai Energy through Stigmata-derived abilities. 171 323 449

Artificial Stigmata are incomplete imitations of true Stigmata. They primarily enhance Honkai resistance, whereas true-Stigmata users and Second Eruption survivors can exhibit far greater combat power and much finer Honkai Energy control. 156 107

Modern Alliance Valkyries increasingly share traits with Fusion Warriors through advanced antibodies and biological enhancement. The distinction remains functional: Valkyries generally excel at Honkai Energy attacks and elemental techniques, while Fusion Warriors are better suited to direct physical reinforcement and weapon combat. 450 452

Combat Types

  • Bio-type — Uses Honkai Energy primarily to strengthen biological attributes such as strength, endurance, and speed. 323
  • Ability-type — Converts Honkai Energy into elements or specialized phenomena, commonly called “spells” by Valkyries. 323 429
  • Hybrid type — A rare combination of biological enhancement and ability-based development. 323
  • Consciousness type — Later included by Freya alongside biological and ability classifications to guide Valkyries and Fusion Warriors toward suitable development paths. 426

Abilities & Skills

Honkai Energy Manipulation

Valkyries use Honkai Energy to reinforce themselves, power weapons, and produce abilities based on their Stigmata.

  • Type-B Stigmata allow ordinary Valkyries to achieve control once associated primarily with the Schariac family. 224
  • Common manifestations include shields, enlarged weapons, lightning, flame, earth, ice, and other elemental attacks. 225
  • Ability-oriented Valkyries are especially effective at penetrating the tough defenses of Humanoid Honkai Beasts with elemental attacks. 449
  • Excessive contact with Honkai Energy can burden the user; Keys of Reason reduce this burden by simplifying conversion and limiting direct contact. 429

Physical Enhancement

Some Valkyries specialize in direct combat through enhanced biological attributes.

  • B-rank Valkyries are described as comparable to tanks in combat capability, but far more agile and mobile. 28 29
  • Close-combat Valkyries among elite units are generally exceptionally powerful. 73
  • Physical enhancement can grant remarkable durability and recovery; Captain Lewis regained normal mobility after severe injuries within two months. 172
  • Pure physical combat is less desirable after heavy mental-energy expenditure, as Valkyries are generally more effective when fighting with Honkai Energy. 458

Key of Reason Resonance

Keys of Reason let Valkyries amplify Stigmata power through mental control and squad coordination.

  • An individual Valkyrie can normally control three to eight Keys of Reason. 457
  • A squad of at least five can form a Starmap and jointly wield fifteen to forty units of Stigmata power. 457
  • The mental burden is distributed through linked consciousness rather than borne by one member. 457
  • Specialized Starmaps can produce effects such as terrain adaptation, soul damage, stealth, dark vision, or attribute enhancement. 457 458

Quantum Battle Body Operation

Alliance Valkyries can remotely operate Quantum Bodies through control pods.

  • The Valkyrie’s consciousness controls a separate combat body, allowing operations without direct bodily harm if the Quantum Body is destroyed. 458
  • Quantum Body users enter a state of physical stasis while operating, leaving their original bodies defenseless despite their natural durability. 443
  • Quantized Valkyries are intended to support future exploration, logistics, and parallel-world operations. 503

Equipment

  • Valkyrie Armor — Combat suits designed to improve anti-@@REF_ENTITY_5372275@@ performance; armor generations range from early models to advanced third- and fourth-generation systems. 56 86 142
  • Honkai Energy weapons — Includes firearms, swords, spears, lances, heavy weapons, and specialized elemental equipment. 29 30 449
  • Artificial StigmataSchicksal augmentation technology that enhances Honkai resistance at the cost of physical strain and shortened lifespan. 156
  • Type-B Stigmata — External Honkai-crystal circuits that guide Stigmata power and dramatically improve Honkai Energy control. 224
  • Keys of Reason — Mental-power-responsive devices that enhance combat ability and can form resonance arrays or Starmaps. 405 457
  • Quantum Battle Bodies — Remote-controlled combat projections used to reduce casualties and enable dangerous operations. 458 503

Organization

Schicksal Era

Schicksal deployed Valkyries for virtually any task requiring combat ability or advancing Schicksal’s interests. Beyond anti-@@REF_ENTITY_5372275@@ combat, their duties included public security, logistics, intelligence work, infiltration, and assassination. 171

Specialized units included:

  • Assault Teams — Elite close-combat units originally focused on fighting giant Honkai Beasts. 73 452
  • Cleaners — Valkyrie units specializing in human targets, assassination, and infiltration. 96
  • Dark Department — Personnel skilled in disguise and covert operations rather than direct combat. 60
  • Covert Mobile Force — A secret force largely composed of Second Eruption survivors, trained to deal with threats beyond ordinary Cleaner units. 458

Alliance Era

Freya’s reforms separated military and political authority, preventing researchers and officials from freely accessing Valkyrie records or assigning suicide missions. 250

  • Apocalypse Knights — Alliance-supported Valkyries who train as a military force and deploy when necessary; they function as guards of the Grand Bishop and Saintess. 311 400
  • Valkyrie Guild — A mercenary-style organization in which independent Valkyrie squads accept missions and contracts. 298 311 400
  • Main combat force — A selective force with promotion and relegation mechanisms intended to keep its members elite. 495
  • Non-combat roles — Modern Valkyries can pursue research, scientific, logistical, support, and administrative work rather than frontline combat alone. 449 508

Story Role / Major Arcs

Schicksal’s Anti-Honkai Force

Valkyries serve as Schicksal’s principal anti-@@REF_ENTITY_5372275@@ force because conventional mechs lack the energy efficiency needed to replace their mobility and combat flexibility. 29

Their historical role is marked by high casualty rates, limited autonomy, and treatment as expendable resources. Artificial Stigmata allowed Schicksal to field them in large numbers, but at considerable cost to their health and longevity. 156 165

Rise of Type-B Valkyries

Freya’s Type-B Stigmata project transforms Valkyrie warfare by granting widespread Honkai Energy manipulation. Type-B Valkyries can use attacks and defensive techniques resembling magic, and their strength makes earlier rank comparisons increasingly obsolete. 215 225 407

A standard Alliance Valkyrie squad is ultimately judged by its capacity to fight an Emperor-class Honkai Beast, with simulated Emperor-class battles used for training and assessment. 407

Alliance Reforms

Under the Alliance, Valkyries gain legal protections, independent career paths, better medical and modification standards, and greater control over deployments. Freya’s policy seeks to ensure Valkyries are treated as people rather than weapons or experimental material. 311 400 416

The reforms also create tension: Freya’s strong favoritism toward Valkyries conflicts with concerns that their privileges may cause internal conflict or abuse of power. 426 429

Moon and Parallel-World Operations

Valkyries become central to the Alliance’s Moon operations and parallel-world expeditions. They use Starmaps, Quantum Battle Bodies, and coordinated squad tactics against powerful Honkai and Abyss Civilization threats. 457 458 488 503

Trivia

  • The nine main Floating Islands of Schicksal headquarters are named after the Nine Realms of Norse mythology. 171
  • Valkyries often form intense sisterly bonds within squads, shaped by the high casualty rates of earlier eras. 402
  • Many Valkyries join the fight against Honkai to avenge family members lost in Honkai incidents. 233 260
  • In the Alliance era, Valkyries are no longer restricted to combat; Stigmata abilities can also be used in construction, logistics, support, and research. 334
