Background
Before joining Heiduo, Scizor lived alone in National Park after evolving from Scyther. He accepted that evolution had made him heavier and unable to sustain prolonged high-speed movement, but valued his stronger frame, steel pincers, and greater combat power. His wings primarily cooled the heat produced by rapid movement rather than enabling true flight 113.
Despite his severe demeanor, he repeatedly sheltered Eevee when it was a weak, homeless Berry thief. Scizor protected Eevee from the Pokémon it had provoked, then made it serve as a training target by using Protect and Aurora Veil. Eevee considered this miserable exploitation, while Heiduo recognized it as harsh but practical protection and training 114.
Heiduo located Scizor through Eevee and challenged him with Gabite. During the fight, Scizor concealed his ambidexterity, his right-pincer striking ability, and Feint; Gabite ultimately defeated him with a hidden Fire Fang, exploiting Scizor's severe Fire weakness. Heiduo captured him in a Heavy Ball afterward 115 116.
Scizor accepted Heiduo's offer after being shown a drawing of Mega Scizor and promised opportunities for growth. Their arrangement began as a practical contract between ambitious battlers, but developed into trust, Resonance, and a shared home at Mt. Silver 117 451 551.
Appearance
Scizor is a heavily built, metallic red Bug/Steel Pokémon with enormous crab-like pincers and translucent, metal-textured wings. A scar beneath his jaw distinguishes him from the female Scizor who later becomes his partner 113.
- Large steel pincers with blade-like inner edges, used for cutting as well as crushing.
- Metallic Bug wings that generate intense cooling airflow after high-speed movement.
- Eye-like markings on his pincers that he uses to intimidate opponents 262.
- A calm, upright “warrior” posture even while injured or under pressure.
- As Mega Scizor, he gains black cross-shaped facial armor, darker shoulder and thigh plates, sharper limbs, and much heavier toothed pincers 451.
Personality
Scizor is disciplined, proud, and intensely battle-oriented. He dislikes fighting opponents he considers weak, values opponents who continue standing after injury, and views difficult battles as the most meaningful path to improvement 117 337. His composure is exceptional: even after Gabite severely damaged his left pincer, he remained calm, regulated his breathing, and continued fighting without panic 115.
He initially preferred operating independently and could be slow to accept commands, treating Heiduo more like a capable leader than an unquestioned master. Over time, Heiduo's care, honesty, and willingness to meet his demands changed that relationship into complete trust 123 388 451.
Though outwardly blunt and emotionally inept, Scizor is not cruel. He protected Eevee in the wild, began training Riolu as a future rival, and eventually accepted that his life could include companions, students, affection, and family alongside battle 114 337 551.
Abilities & Skills
Technician
Scizor's Technician Ability enhances the force of his lower-powered techniques.
- His Bug Bite can cut through attacks such as Girafarig's Shadow Ball before striking the opponent directly 302.
- Technician and same-type enhancement allowed Bug Bite to heavily injure Clair's Kingdra despite the lack of a type advantage 383.
- His compact, precision-based style complements Technician better than prolonged exchanges.
Imperial-Style Swordsmanship and Aerial Ace
Scizor possesses exceptional natural aptitude for Imperial-Style Swordsmanship, eventually surpassing Heiduo's own mastery 647.
- His level-seven Aerial Ace could leave three slash-like wounds in a single exchange 139.
- He can attack with either pincer and chain right- and left-handed Aerial Ace strikes to defeat opponents who evade the first blow 139.
- At level eight, Aerial Ace developed into two returning wind blades 645.
- His pincer blades, rather than raw swinging force alone, are central to his cutting technique 385.
Instant Burst
Instant Burst is Scizor's signature acceleration technique. He compresses the energy normally used for sustained high-speed movement into a few seconds, producing speed that humans and many Pokémon cannot follow 385.
- Used with Bullet Punch, it enabled one-exchange knockouts against opponents such as Florges and Skarmory 182 496.
- His wings and lower limbs produce the explosive acceleration; the wings then shift to cooling his overheated metal body.
- The technique creates intense heat, smoke, metal fatigue, and a period of post-burst rigidity or immobility 182 394.
- Rain, Water-type attacks, and chained Defog can reduce his cooldown, but repeated use remains physically dangerous 383 394.
- Ice can freeze his joints and prevent activation entirely, as Pryce's Piloswine demonstrated with Blizzard 404.
Bullet Punch
Bullet Punch is Scizor's preferred finishing technique after joining Heiduo.
- Its speed can approach or exceed the speed of sound when combined with Instant Burst 182.
- He uses it for rapid interception, close-range knockouts, and launching lighter opponents into the air before following with Aerial Ace 497 789.
- At level eight, he can deliver two punches in one burst 645.
Defensive and Tactical Moves
Scizor supplements his offense with strong defensive, recovery, and switching options.
- Iron Defense — Can absorb heavy physical blows and support a stationary counterattack style 303.
- Swords Dance — Raises his offensive power; its advanced Mega Scizor application creates five sword phantoms that can extend attacks and be consumed to strengthen them 384 539.
- Roost — Restores stamina and repairs damage, allowing him to reverse attrition battles 383.
- U-turn — Functions as an emergency attack-and-recall option, allowing him to escape dangerous battlefield conditions such as Blizzard 404.
- Defog — Clears smoke, Spikes, and sand while serving as a critical cooling tool after Instant Burst 394 497.
- Feint — Used to deceive opponents before attacking with his concealed right pincer 116.
Mega Evolution
Using his Mega Stone and Heiduo's Key Stone, Scizor can Mega Evolve into Mega Scizor.
- Mega Evolution gives him immense energy, heavier pincers, increased armor, and extraordinary Instant Burst speed 451 538.
- His disciplined mental training allowed him to resist the transformation's berserk influence 451.
- The form initially risked damaging or melting his metal body if sustained too long; early use was limited to roughly two or three minutes 451.
- Mega Scizor developed advanced techniques including energy-blade extensions, Ultimate Meteor Flash Charge, and a meteor-like Giga Impact finish 539 540.
Equipment / Maintenance
- Mega Stone — Worn on an iron collar for Mega Evolution 451.
- Flash Steel Fluid — Applied to his joints and pincer blades to relieve metal fatigue and maintain his armor 263 291.
- Sharpened pincer blades — Regularly maintained by Heiduo to preserve his cutting capability 263.
Relationships
- Heiduo — Trainer and trusted partner. Their relationship began as a negotiated alliance centered on strength, then reached complete trust through Resonance and Mega Evolution 117 451.
- Female Scizor (“Scar”) — Formerly an unwanted pursuer; she trained for a year to endure his ten-move test. Scizor ultimately accepted her place in his life and arranged for her to live at Mt. Silver 550 551 555.
- Scyther — His child with the female Scizor. Scizor is protective of the egg and later hopes to test Scyther's growth through battle 758 787 941.
- Eevee — Former wild companion whom Scizor repeatedly protected; their relationship remains strained because Eevee remembers being used as a defensive training target 114.
- Gabite / Garchomp — A major rival. Gabite defeated and enabled Scizor's capture; Garchomp later became one of Scizor's primary sparring partners and competitors for the team's ace position 116 551 787.
- Riolu / Lucario — Student and future rival. Scizor began mentoring Riolu because its eventual Fighting/Steel typing could create a worthwhile long-term matchup 337.
- Elekid / Electivire — Respected teammate and pursuer of Scizor's tactical skill; Electivire specifically wanted to battle Scizor to discover his own weaknesses 117.
